Several state governments have been forced to review their decisions and impose novel guidelines owing to the rampant devastation caused by the Omicron variant. Most schools, colleges, coaching institutes, colleges, and universities have resorted to closure as per the order issued by the respective education ministers of the state. Meanwhile, the vaccination drive has gained momentum as Union Education minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan reveals more than one crore children have been vaccinated. As per a study conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology [IIT] Mumbai, the rate of infection was high in areas near large water bodies and those states that have a high rate of international migration. The study which was conducted over six hundred and forty districts located in the Indian subcontinent declared such areas as hotspots for high infection rates.
