As per a study conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology [IIT] Mumbai, the rate of infection was high in areas near large water bodies and those states that have a high rate of international migration. The study which was conducted over six hundred and forty districts located in the Indian subcontinent declared such areas as hotspots for high infection rates. In the past few days, several ministers like Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Ashok Gehlot have tested positive for the virus. Furthermore, on 10 January Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tested positive.

Hence in light of the spiking numbers of new cases, each single day state governments of the aforementioned states and union territories have imposed nighttime curfews as well as weekend curfews. People disobeying the restrictions laid could be deemed as not abiding by the law and police action may be actively carried upon them. Important entrance tests and examinations like IGNOU, especially those that were scheduled to be held offline have also been canceled. The Central Board of Secondary education [CBSE] and the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination [CISCE] have currently postponed examinations that were scheduled for the month of March-April 2022. However, date sheets may soon be released depending upon the situation. As per the Ministry of Health And Welfare, Government of India the count of total active patients is 723619 which includes 133008 cases recorded just yesterday.
