Indira Gandhi national Open University (IGNOU) has today, January 06, 2022, announced an important decision regarding the Term End Examination (TEE) December 2021. Students have been informed that the term end exams have been postponed indefinitely due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the country. The postponement has also been attributed to the rampant spread of a new variant called Omicron. This variant supposedly, spreads faster compared to the existing variants, creating fear on an international level.
The announcement has been delivered in the form of a public notice on the official website ignou.ac.in. Furthermore, the university’s official twitter account @officialIGNOU has also tweeted the public notice on the popular social media platform. This announcement has garnered mixed responses from netizens and students – some being in favor while others opposing it.
The notice reads “Consequent upon the outburst and infectious growth of the new variant of coronavirus, i.e. Omicron and the weekend curfews in various parts of the country, the December 2021 Term-end Examinations of the INDIRA GANDHI NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY, scheduled to be held from 20th January 2022 to 23rd February 2022 have been postponed till further notification. The next schedule of the examinations will be published on the University’s Website at least 15 days before commencement of examinations.
The students are advised to keep checking the University’s website for examination related information and updates at frequent intervals.

The IGNOU TEE December 2021 examination was all set to be conducted from January 20 to February 23, 2022. However, the exams have been postponed till the situation in the country stabilises. Of course,after deciding a fresh schedule, the same will be communicated at least 15 days prior to exam commencement. So that students get adequate reaction time before giving the exams. The same was reiterated through the public notice.
In light of these circumstances, the university has advised students to visit the official website frequently for any important announcement pertaining to TEE December 2021 examination. in fact, the university is likely to announce a fresh schedule through a public notice on the official website. Hence, it is crucial for students to keep tracking this portal.
In addition to postponement of IGNOU TEE 2021 examination, the university has also extended the deadline for assignment submission. Accordingly, students have been given time up to January 15, 2022, to submit their assignments, internships, project reports, dissertations and fieldwork journals. If submitted on time, these documents will be considered for the final assessment of final-year students. So, it is safe to say that these documents will also influence a candidate’s final performance in addition to term-end exams.
Although the exam schedule will change, the IGNOU TEE 2021 exam pattern will remain the same. Accordingly, the exams will be held through the offline mode wherein, candidates need to answer multiple-choice questions (MCQs). This objective-based pattern will be applicable for several courses including BDP, BTS, BCA, BSW and CBCS.
