Recently a report claiming that the UPTET exam scheduled to be held on January 23, 2022, might be deferred to a later date owing to the sudden exponential rise in COVID-19 cases across the state was circulated on social media. The authorities have vindicated the report and clarified that the news is fake. Further, explained that the board is not considering postponing the UPTET 2022 exam and have released no such notices in this regard.

UPTET was earlier scheduled for November 28, 2021, but was canceled due to alleged exam paper leak in different social media platforms and hence was re-scheduled for January 23, 2022, and the estimated number of candidates for the exam is more than 21 lakhs.

According to the sources, the news of UPTET postponement started circulating on Sunday evening, which stated that the upper chief secretary of TET, Renuka Kumar had canceled the upcoming UPTET Exam which was to commence from January 23, and soon the post and news became viral as many people started sharing it without verifying it.

When the authorities came across the news and verified it, they stated it to be fake, and then the authorized examination chief secretary, Mr. Anil Bhusan Chaturvedi stated that the exams on January 23 are due to be held as all the preparations have been made.

Covid-19 and Omicron concerns

The appearing candidates for UP-TET exams are afraid of the increasing Covid-19 infections and the new Omicron variant’s spreading throughout. So, the concerned authorities are conscious that it will not be easy to conduct exams in this ambiance and are closely monitoring the situation.

The State Government is also taking necessary steps to slow down the spreading of viruses as well as implementing various measures, such as Night Curfew which has already been announced in the state to control the spreading of infection.
