The SLET Commission, Assam (NE region), has announced notified that the dates of the State Eligibility Test (SET) have been postponed further due to the clash with the upcoming municipal elections in the state. The exam was earlier scheduled to be conducted on March 06, 2022. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Assam declared the dates of municipal elections to be on March 06, and the SET exam stands rescheduled. The revised date of the exam is expected to be announced shortly.
SLET Exam Postponed
The election is held across 80 municipal boards in the state on March 06. All the municipal boards have at least 10 wards each within their area with as many as 2054 polling stations set up across the state to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the elections amidst the third wave of Covid 19. The counting is scheduled to be done on March 09, 2022.
Since all the candidates who have registered for the SET exam are also entitled to vote under the universal adult franchise, it is not suitable to conduct the examination on the same date. Apart from the voting rights, there might be problems with the exam centers too as the polling booths are being set up across various institutions in the state. It is to avoid all these clashes that the SLET Commission has decided to postpone the exam until further notice. The exam was earlier scheduled to be conducted on February 27 and was shifted to March 06 recently.
