Nearly 18 lakh candidates who sat the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test earlier this month are still waiting. The UPTET Result 2026 has not been declared, and the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has not yet announced a date or time for it. Based on where the evaluation process currently stands, the result is expected in the first week of August 2026 at upessc.up.gov.in.
A notice claiming the result would be released on 29 July circulated widely on social media last week. UPESSC issued no such announcement. Candidates should treat only the commission’s own website as authoritative and ignore forwarded screenshots and unverified dates.

Why the UPTET Result 2026 Is Taking Longer
UPTET is an offline, OMR-based examination, not a computer-based test. That difference matters. OMR sheets from every centre have to be physically collected, scanned and screened before any scoring can begin, and the commission is still working through that stage. On top of that, UPESSC must dispose of the objections filed against the provisional answer key by 14 July and publish a final key — the result cannot be computed until that final key is locked.
The scale explains the rest. A total of 19,94,661 candidates registered for UPTET 2026, and 17,70,714 actually appeared across Paper 1 and Paper 2, an attendance rate of 88.77%. Processing close to 18 lakh answer sheets across two papers is simply not a quick job.
We are tracking this cycle closely. Every announcement as it happens is being logged on our UPTET news updates page.

UPTET Qualifying Marks 2026 – Category-Wise
UPTET is a pass-or-fail eligibility test, not a rank-based exam. Scoring far above the threshold does not give you a better position — it only confirms eligibility. The minimum marks required are as follows.
| Category | Minimum percentage | Marks out of 150 |
|---|---|---|
| General / UR | 60% | 90 |
| OBC | 55% | 82.5 |
| SC | 55% | 82.5 |
| ST | 55% | 82.5 |
UPESSC is expected to publish category-wise cut-off details alongside the UPTET Result 2026. Candidates who clear the threshold qualify; there is no separate merit list at this stage.
UPTET 2026 Exam Pattern Recap
Both papers carried 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks, with 150 minutes allotted and no negative marking. Paper 1 ran in the morning shift and Paper 2 in the afternoon. Paper 1 qualifies you to teach Classes 1 to 5; Paper 2 covers Classes 6 to 8. Candidates targeting both levels sat both papers.
| Paper | Sections | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Paper 1 (Classes 1–5) | Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies | 30 each, 150 total |
| Paper 2 (Classes 6–8) | Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, plus Mathematics & Science or Social Studies | 30 + 30 + 30 + 60, 150 total |
The syllabus is pegged to the NCERT elementary curriculum, which is why candidates preparing to reattempt or moving on to Super TET find school-level material the most efficient revision route. Chapter-wise NCERT Solutions cover exactly that ground, and you can pressure-test your preparation with a free UPTET mock test or work through UPTET previous year question papers.
What Happens After the UPTET Result 2026
Qualifying candidates are issued a Teacher Eligibility Certificate, collected from the regional centres of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET). Carry a copy of your application form or admit card, your downloaded result, an original photo ID such as Aadhaar, voter ID, PAN or driving licence, and your caste or special reservation certificate where applicable.
The certificate is valid for a lifetime. It does not by itself give you a teaching job — it makes you eligible to apply for recruitment drives such as Super TET and other Uttar Pradesh assistant teacher vacancies, which are conducted separately.
