Days after the RRB NTPC CBT-1 result announcement, an important meeting took place between two important government officials. Recently, Member of Parliament Sushil Kumar Modi met with the Indian Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw to discuss his concerns regarding the recruitment exam. This discussion comes at a time when the computer-based test (CBT) 2 has been postponed owing to issues regarding CBT-1. The second stage was scheduled from February 15, 2022, has been indefinitely postponed.
Proposition of Sushil Kumar Modi

During the meeting conducted with the Railway Minister, MP Modi communicated two important pointers – 1. Only one CBT must be conducted for Group D recruitment instead of two tests and 2. Additional 3.5 lakh candidates must be qualified under the “One Candidate-Unique Result” system. After communicating these demands, Vaishnaw reassured that these points will be taken into consideration before announcing a final verdict on the RRB Group D Recruitment format.

Currently, RRB is conducting two CBTs as part of the Group D recruitment process. As per official information, Group D recruitment process comprises of 1,03,769 vacancies. A total of 1.15 crore candidates had applied for CBT-1. Out of which only, the government claims to have qualified candidates 20 times more than the number of vacancies. This implies that 20,75,380 have supposedly qualified the exam and moved to the next stage.

Modi has requested the railway ministry to remove this two-test system and instead, adopt a one-test system. Moreover, 3.5 lakh more candidates must be considered for the final steps of the recruitment process. Although a huge chunk of students supports these requests, the ministry is likely to adopt this system in the next recruitment drive. For now, it has the option of rectifying any issues with the CBT-1 result, instead of conducting a singular, national-level exam.

Issues & Grievances about RRB Group D CBT-1 Result
As per official information, the number of candidates qualified for RRB Group D CBT-2 is 20 times the total vacancies. However, candidates are claiming a smaller figure of shortlisted candidates. They are also complaining and protesting about the apparent discrepancies in result announcement.
To acknowledge and solve these issues, the Railway Ministry is going to conduct a probe into the RRB group D CBT-1 system used for result declaration. Candidates have also been given a chance to communicate their grievances about result on or before February 16, 2022. However, those who have been shortlisted for the next stage need not worry as their results will not be affected
