GATE 2022 has become a topic of discussion in the country citing the negligent behavior of the conducting body and the anxiousness of candidates. GATE examination is scheduled for February 05, 2022, however, the convenor IIT Kharagpur has remained silent on the postponement of the examination. On the other hand, with each passing day, the candidates are becoming apprehensive of the whole situation. They have been demanding postponing the examination for a long time but the authorities are not in a mood to listen to their plights. Since today’s morning more than 37k tweets have been recorded for postponing the exam.

Since today, the students took to Twitter to again raise their point of view for the GATE 2022 examination. The major reason put forth by students for postponing the exam is the prevailing COVID-19 condition. As per students till now, the infection rate has not come down in many parts of the country. Other than this, there are some students who along with their families have tested COVID positive.

Concerns over exam center
Another major reason that has been highlighted by students time and again is exam center location. A majority of students have opted for an exam centre near their college or hostel accommodation. However, amidst the COVID-19 third wave majority of hostels and colleges are inoperational forcing the students to move back to their native place. Therefore, now these students are finding it hard to move to the exam center citing COVID-19 fear and lack of safe public transport.
These students have also accused the authorities of not considering the COVID-19 norms as they have not increased the number of exam centers strictly flouting the basic COVID-19 guideline.

Some students also raised the age limit issue before the authorities since a lot of PSUs consider GATE scorecards for providing jobs to deserving candidates. If due to any of the reasons the candidates fail to appear in the examination then their chance of selection and years of hard work shall go in vain. As of now, no official action has been reportedly taken by IIT Kharagpur however the candidates have been continuously retweeting their requests before the authorities.
