Prakash Javadekar, a month before, had made an announcement that National Testing agency will conduct NEET from 2019 onwards, twice a year and in online mode only. However now, the Health Ministry is claiming some major drawback of this decision. As per various newspaper reports, it is also being said that the Ministry of Health has written a letter to MHRD about how the public announcement on the NEET being conducted in CBT mode was made “without formal consultation” with them. Thus, now MHRD might reconsider the decision of NEET 2019 conduct.
As per the reports, there are 8 major problems highlighted in the letter by Health Ministry to MHRD. One of the major problems is that if the Computer Based Test (CBT) is implied, then rural and economically poor families will be at a disadvantage.
The Health Ministry also fears that if NTA would conduct exam in February and May, this would mean a continuous period of 4-5 months of exams for the class 12 students as, during the February-March period, class 12 students also appear in the Board exams. This may add to the pressure on students.
Health Ministry fears that NTA conducting NEET in online mode will be unfair to the economically backward students and the NTA proposed NEET calendar will add to extra pressure on the class 12 students.
Now that Health Ministry disagrees with MHRD’s decision, a meeting was held between officers of the Health and HRD ministries, suggests the newspapers reports. After which the decision to maintain the status quo, only for the NEET, till 2019, has been made.
Thus, until at least 2019, NEET might continue in Pen and Paper mode only. In addition to that, newspaper report also claims that CBSE and not National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct NEET in 2019. Also, NEET might remain an annual entrance examination, which means in 2019, NEET will be conducted once.

Summarising, we can now say that the decision of conducting NEET 2019 by NTA, twice a year and in CBT mode remains unclear. If the Ministry of Health’s concerns are taken into consideration by MHRD then, NEET 2019 will be conducted once a year, in pen and paper mode and by CBSE.
Students are advised to not worry about the mode and time of conduction of the examination. The NEET 2019 syllabus is the same. Also, no changes will be made in the exam pattern and eligibility. Thus, the preparations must go on without any hindrances. Until any final notice or official announcement of NEET 2019 – Stay prepared for the exam in the best possible manner.
Do you think the Ministry of Health’s concerns are legit? What do you think the mode of conduction of national entrance examinations like NEET and JEE Main should be? Should these exams be bi-annual? Do let us know your opinions in the comment section below. Stay tuned with AglaSem news for more!
It was really a gud decision for conducting neet bi-annualy…as it was a initiative for the repeaters and Freshers and they built a new hope in them…also for the 12thees to held their boards in march peacefully after giving exam of Feb..
neet should be held twice in a year
And if it will be held in online mode then also it is fine but it should be conducted only on one day not different days
It will ensure that the exam level is same for everyone
NEET should be conducted twice but online mode should not be conducted
Cm of Maharashtra are ready to make nagpur city a wifi city but can’t make preparations for NEET &JEE exams on onlone mode
Ok just let that be aside
But gov. Should give their firm decision s before a year about the exams are the students responsible for this or the gov.
Don’t play with the tender age student by your eqivocal decisions. Take a firm decision and let the students follow it. In my opinion CBT is the best way of conducting exam. Medical seat aspirant are well aware of CBT even in rural back ground. Don’t consider the 2 to 3% problem as major obstacle.
Its not true that economically backward class will suffer problem giving neet in cbt pattern because not 3 or 4 std student are giving this exam they are 12 student . so they must know how to handle the computer or how they have reach till the 12 without knowing the at least basics of computers
All are degitalised now so computer based exam is more convenient for all students.Acually all stupid fellow are in Government now they changed their decision any time . This village students are also qualified in AIIMS and Zipmar so why not in NEET? JEE (mains) conducted twice so why not NEET?
No it should be held twice a year only as students 1 year will be stopped from wasting & it should be CBT based only as omr filling tym will be saved & one can correct the answer also even 12th students can give save their year & it will be a big profitable for droppers plse dont change the decision of helding exam twice year & cbt based
All concern Department should not make it an ego game for them, i feel pen and paper mode only is a right ,but with uniform set of questions and should better be bi annually.
If jee can be twice an year why not neet pen and paper way is the best but one can get two chances to prove themselves I Hope that government take best decision that neet to be conducted twice an year
NEET should be conducted twice a year as announced by hon’ble minister Mr Javdekar because it gives the opportunity to students to try their best with two options instead of losing a year as in earlier years. It should be conducted in pen and paper mode in a single day with equal questions for all examinees twice in a year in February and May which is appreciable.
It should be held annually….because being held twice a year and that to in Feb would create pressure on the students appearing for the board exams….and a stable mind is required to crack neet and not a pressurized one
Neet exam must be conducted twice a year as best of 2 scores will be taken .
In my opinion, the pen paper mode will be more comfortable. This is what students are used to, moreover, the brightness(light) projected bt computer screen often leads to a nunbing soft headache which may act as a hindrance to students while solving their paper. Whereas, the pen paper mode is what students practise with and will be more in their aura.
Talking about the bi-enual examination idea, i think this will be a major helping hand for students. Getting an opportunity for correcting our mistakes once done, for such a huge platform,is what a student appearing for the exam can ask for. So, i rest my case by requesting our government to look forward for the idea with a bit of modifications. Thank You
I m not able to understand that why govt. is playing with the future of we kids …..month after month it is changing its decisions ….is it like that the govt. is not able to remain at its decision ….plz stop playing with our futures ….there is not any problem for conduction of neet in cbt mode instead it will be excellent for students and giving neet twice a year would also reduce the pressure on kids ….plz stop making these foolish reasons to conduct neet in offline mode and once a year …
