Prakash Javadekar, a month before, had made an announcement that National Testing agency will conduct NEET from 2019 onwards, twice a year and in online mode only. However now, the Health Ministry is claiming some major drawback of this decision. As per various newspaper reports, it is also being said that the Ministry of Health has written a letter to MHRD about how the public announcement on the NEET being conducted in CBT mode was made “without formal consultation” with them. Thus, now MHRD might reconsider the decision of NEET 2019 conduct.
As per the reports, there are 8 major problems highlighted in the letter by Health Ministry to MHRD. One of the major problems is that if the Computer Based Test (CBT) is implied, then rural and economically poor families will be at a disadvantage.
The Health Ministry also fears that if NTA would conduct exam in February and May, this would mean a continuous period of 4-5 months of exams for the class 12 students as, during the February-March period, class 12 students also appear in the Board exams. This may add to the pressure on students.
Health Ministry fears that NTA conducting NEET in online mode will be unfair to the economically backward students and the NTA proposed NEET calendar will add to extra pressure on the class 12 students.
Now that Health Ministry disagrees with MHRD’s decision, a meeting was held between officers of the Health and HRD ministries, suggests the newspapers reports. After which the decision to maintain the status quo, only for the NEET, till 2019, has been made.
Thus, until at least 2019, NEET might continue in Pen and Paper mode only. In addition to that, newspaper report also claims that CBSE and not National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct NEET in 2019. Also, NEET might remain an annual entrance examination, which means in 2019, NEET will be conducted once.

Summarising, we can now say that the decision of conducting NEET 2019 by NTA, twice a year and in CBT mode remains unclear. If the Ministry of Health’s concerns are taken into consideration by MHRD then, NEET 2019 will be conducted once a year, in pen and paper mode and by CBSE.
Students are advised to not worry about the mode and time of conduction of the examination. The NEET 2019 syllabus is the same. Also, no changes will be made in the exam pattern and eligibility. Thus, the preparations must go on without any hindrances. Until any final notice or official announcement of NEET 2019 – Stay prepared for the exam in the best possible manner.
Do you think the Ministry of Health’s concerns are legit? What do you think the mode of conduction of national entrance examinations like NEET and JEE Main should be? Should these exams be bi-annual? Do let us know your opinions in the comment section below. Stay tuned with AglaSem news for more!
Neet should be conducted twice a year,as students will be not in a fear to loose their whole year. Sometimes students may not perform according to their calibre and in second chance they may overcome their drawbacks. Conduct it in cbt or pen-paper mode, but should conduct twice a year.
Neet ,jee mains should be held offline mode only. Once in a year in pen paper best is the best process to take this exams in my opinion.
According to me.. Neet should be conducted twice a year…. may be you can consider it in pen paper mode but it should be a bi annual examination.. however class 12 students are habituated of giving exams from February as practicals start from Feb
Honestly speaking, having neet twice a year is such a relief. Who doesn’t want to improve? It’s for their own future career. Imagine how nervous some 1st timers are. Having neet twice sure helps in getting confidence, experience and Chance to improve. It’s surely better than waiting another year. As for the mode of exam, online mode seems fair enough as its simple as a click while shading those circles does consume time and may even lead to silly mistakes. Who wants to lose 4 marks because of one silly mistake. Even trying to be careful builds pressure to some students(me for example). Well this is just my personal opinion but I do think some fellow students might agree with me. Conducting neet twice online seems to have its own plus point.

Conducting meet twice in a year is very good for the students and I do not know why the health ministry wants to spoil the advantageous things for students MHRD has taken the right decision earlier for the betterment of the student community
I don’t disagree with the thoughts of the NTA conducting NEET twice a year, it is beneficial. But they should realize that implementing rules so quickly affects the students. Also if the February board exams clash with NEET, that will add on to the pressure we would already be going through. I’d rather advice them to implement these rules from 2020, because atleast the batch for 2020 will know that these are the rules and hence will study accordingly.
NEET is eligible for private student of maharashtra board
CBT is the best. Students can save the time of filling bubbles and use it to attend more questions. MHRD has already said there will be training for the students of rural areas.
In my opinion, decision taken by MHRD related to CBT examination is relevant and pen & paper mode can be considered but huge pressure on students due to bi-annual exams could be inappropriate. Instead they would be more tensed and pressurized when conducted once as they won’t be getting second chance.
Neet should be conducted twice in year. If this decision is not made then it will create more pressure on 12 th class Students and their parents too ..waiting for complete one year I and again correcting the mistake done in first attempt will be difficult for students as well as for poor people who can’t afford to provide one more chance to their children. If neet which is one of the tough competitive exam is conducted twice a year will benefit most of the students. Here if student didn’t attempted the first ppr properly can again try his /her hard with more dedication and will prove and get successful within few months. Because due to continuous exam from February to May in the same year students energy and concentration is high.. Please take the right decision of conducting neet twice by looking from student the point of view..pls don’t deviate their minds by changing the decision..
Online mode of examination is really a good one for the student .ln my opinion board examination will not be affected and in case of pressure there will be a second chance so nothing to worry about.
Baht jyaada nainsaafi hai. Do baar se bacho ka pressure kum ho gya tha. Roz may bta decision deker life ko tmaasha bna diya
NEET should conduct two times by online mode only it will better for students to improve themselves for next attempt if they think that they score less this time and there are many more advantages
I suggest to conduct NEET exam twice a year ( Feb and May ) and in online mode. As far as the students of rural areas are concerned, they should be given the option of appearing the exam in online / offline ( pen paper ) mode. It is necessary to conduct the exam in online mode because then there will be least chances of paper leaks. The health ministers and the MHRD ministers should understand the need of the hour and give more amd more opportunities to the aspirants.
