Mumbai: The first attempt of MHT CET 2027 may no longer be held in December. Reports published between October 9 and 12, 2026 say the plan for a December attempt has been dropped and that both attempts are now expected between March and May 2027, after the Maharashtra Class 12 (HSC) board exams. The State CET Cell has not yet posted an official notice confirming this, so the new timeline is still reported, not final.
For students now in Class 12, this means no entrance exam in the middle of board preparation. It also means both CET attempts will come close together after the boards end in mid-March.
MHT CET 2027: Highlights
- Earlier plan (reported): Attempt 1 between December 15, 2026 and January 15, 2027; Attempt 2 in April 2027
- New plan (reported): both attempts in March to May 2027, after HSC boards
- Gap between attempts: about four weeks
- Score rule: better score of the two attempts to count
- HSC 2027 theory exams: February 8 to March 16, 2027 (reported)
- Official status: no MHT CET 2027 schedule on cetcell.mahacet.org as of October 18, 2026
What Was Planned Earlier
In September 2026, reports said the CET Cell planned to hold the first attempt of MHT CET 2027 much earlier than usual, between December 15, 2026 and January 15, 2027, with the second attempt in April 2027. Some websites described this as part of a CET Cell notice dated September 28, 2026. We could not find any such notice on the CET Cell website. The only 2027-28 notice there, dated October 2, 2026, invites subject experts for paper setting and does not give exam dates.
What Has Changed and Why
According to CollegeDekho and other education portals, the December attempt has been dropped after feedback from students, parents, counsellors and educationists. The concern was that a December exam would fall just before HSC pre-board exams and practicals, putting students under pressure to prepare for both at once. Reports attribute the change to officials of the state higher and technical education department, but no official has been named.
Careers360 reported on October 12 that the first attempt is expected in March 2027 and the second in May 2027. Reports also said a tentative schedule would be announced soon. As of October 18, it has not been released.

PCM and PCB Groups
MHT CET is held in two groups. The PCM group (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) is for engineering and related courses. The PCB group (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) is for pharmacy, agriculture and related courses. Separate dates for each group will be known only when the CET Cell releases the timetable.
Registration Expected Soon
No registration date has been announced. Some reports expect the MHT CET 2027 registration to open in October or November 2026 on the CET Cell portal. Candidates should watch cetcell.mahacet.org for the notice.
What Students Should Do Now
- Do not plan around December. Treat the December attempt as unlikely, but wait for the official notice.
- Keep board preparation first till mid-March, since both attempts are now expected after the boards.
- Plan for both attempts. With a gap of about four weeks, the second attempt can be used to improve your score.
- Keep documents ready for registration, such as Aadhaar, photograph, signature and category certificates.
