West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) has published a latest recruitment notification at the website wbpolice.gov.in. The Board is inviting applications from suitably qualified and physically fit candidates to fill up 1088 vacancies for the post of Sub Inspector. Interested candidates can check out the notification and apply online at the aforementioned website starting from today. The last date of submission of online applications is February 20, 2021, while applicants can deposit the application fee online toll February 23, 2021.
The vacancies are available for the posts of Sub Inspector/Lady Sub Inspector of Police (Unarmed Branch) and Sub Inspector of Police (Armed Branch) under the state police department. There are a total of 753 vacancies available for the SI post and 150 vacancies for the Lady SI post under the Unarmed Branch. In the Armed Branch, 185 vacancies are available for the post of SI. In addition, reservation of posts also exists across SC, ST, OBC-A and OBC-B categories. Selected candidates are to be appointed at the Level-10 in the pay scale of Rs 32100-82900.

Candidates within the age of 20 to 27 years can apply for this recruitment. Those who belong to reserved categories can avail relaxations on the upper age limit as per government norms in vogue. All candidates must be able to read, write and speak in Bengali (except those who are permanent residents of Darjeeling & Kalimpong districts). Applicants must be holding a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. It may be noted that only female candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Lady Sub Inspector.
The WBPRB has also specified certain minimum physical standards (post-wise & category-wise) in the official notification. Candidates must fulfil these standards in terms of minimum height, weight and chest measurement in order to apply for the recruitment. The selection tests also consist of Physical Efficiency Test such as 800 metres run within 03 minutes (400 metres within 02 minutes for Lady SI).
The Board is going to conduct a Preliminary exam at first followed by the measurement of physical standards and physical efficiency test. Those who qualify have to appear in the final Combined Competitive Exam and Personality Test for selection and appointment to the designated posts. Final selection and appointment are subject to passing in the Medical Examination.
Interested candidates have to apply online at the aforementioned website as per schedule by paying the application and processing fee. The application fee for all categories is Rs 270. SC/ST candidates are exempted from the payment of the application fee and they have to pay only Rs 20 as a processing fee.
