The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has conducted the preliminary exam for the Engineering Services Exam (ESE) today on February 20, 2022 across various centers in the country. The prelims examination which constitutes stage 1 in the selection process was conducted in two shifts for Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 exam was held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and Paper 2 was held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Post exam, analysis and answer key are being released.
UPSC ESE 2022 Answer Key
Unlike most exams where exam organizers publish answer keys a few days after exam, UPSC ESE prelims official answer key will be released much later, probably with the results. However, candidates can check the unofficial answer keys until then. Various educators and coaching centers are releasing the unofficial answer keys today, at their websites and youtube channels. The answer keys are released only for the prelims examination.

Exam Analysis
Paper 1 ranged from moderate to difficult according to the candidates. Current affairs and reasoning questions made up for the prominent section along with mathematical and numerical analysis. Many questions were theoretical problem based with the general framework of the paper being similar to that of the previous year. The reasoning section as well as the section on general principles on design and drawing was easy compared to the rest of the question paper.

The UPSC ESE prelims examination comprised two papers. Paper 1 was of 200 marks with objective questions from General Studies and Engineering Aptitude. Paper 2 contained core subject specific questions asked for 300 marks. The prelims exam accounts for a total of 500 marks. However, 1/3rd of the mark allotted to each question will be deducted for every wrong answer.
