The University Grants Commission has invited the candidates for the Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF). The opportunity has been provided to the Minority students after an interim of 2 years. UGC has publicized this chance to 1000 candidates under MANF for the academic year 2018-19. Previously, the number of the fellowships was 756. But now, it has been increased by 244 fellowships and now 1000 students can be delighted through this step.
Regarding this step, the University Grants Commission has released a notification too. Candidates can get it from the official website i.e. ugc.ac.in. It is available in the section named “Notices”.
According to the notification, the candidates are eligible for the scholarship who had qualified CBSE UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ JRF exam held in December 2017 and June 2018.
The application process has been started. The interested candidates can directly visit the url http://www.ugc.ac.in/ugc_schemes. There, click on the link of Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students. To apply, the candidates can first fill the Personal Information such as candidates’ name, date of birth, mobile number, email id etc. Then enter the Research Work including the subject, research topic, department etc. After that, enter the other information such as the Scholarships/ Present employment etc. At last, tick the declaration and finally submit the application form.
The last date to fill the application form is December 31, 2018. Candidates are advised to fill the form before the last date and after checking the eligibility criteria.
The scheme has been developed to provide the opportunity to the students to help minority students (Christian, Muslim, Parsi, Sikh, and Buddhist) in pursuing the full-time M. Phil. or Ph.D. In the Indian Universities or Colleges.
For the selection of the candidates, the decision of the Commission will be final regarding the scholarship.
The University Grants Commission is yet to release the information for the RGNF fellowships. The fellowship programme for RGNF has also been delayed from the past two years. This scheme is for the candidates of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes category. It would help these candidates to attain higher studies and in obtaining the full-time research degrees in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Engineering and Technology.
The Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) provides the financial assistance to the candidates who want to pursue the M.Phil or Ph.D. The candidates who will get the fellowship is known as the ‘Ministry of Minority Affairs scholars’. For the physically challenged candidates will be provided the 3% reserved fellowship who belong to the minority category.
