For some time now, Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has been facing quite a lot of difficulty in conducting the recruitment examination. After delaying Multi Tasking Exam for a long time, the Commission has now delayed the third tier of Combine Graduate Level recruitment.
Rescheduling of Examination: Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2017 (Tier-III) Descriptive Paper The Tier-III examination of Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2017, which was earlier scheduled to be held on 31.03.2018, has been postponed and will now be held in the month of May, 2018. SSC has not given any particular reason for the delay of the examination. It is speculated that the irregularities in the conduct of Tier I and II exam are the cause of it. In both the exams, candidates were disappointed as numerous reports of miss conduct were circulated.
SSC CGL 2018 began with Tier 1 examination, which was held from August 05 to 24, 2017 for 15,43,418 candidates. Candidates argued that the examination held before August 15 were tougher than the exams held after the due date.
Commission dismissed the claim and went on to conduct Tier 2 exam between February 17 to 22, 2018. A total of 1,89,843 Tier 1 qualified candidates appeared for it. There was not single but multiple reports of irregularities. To start with, the mathematics paper was reported to have been leaked on social media. The online exam at the centers was not conducted very well, even screenshots of one candidate taking the exam from the remote location were circulated online.
Students reached threshold and took to social media to display anguish using #SSCSCAM. SSC termed all the reports baseless and ensured that the exam has been conducted very well. While some candidates hope for the re-take of examination, other have moved on and are preparing for Tier 3 descriptive exam.
The SSC CGL Descriptive paper will be held in pen and paper mode. As per the exam pattern, candidates will get 60 minutes to attempt it. The exam will be of 100 marks and the candidates will have to attempt questions on essay writing, letter writing, application, etc.
The candidates who will qualify Tier 3 will be called for the Tier 4, which is Skill Test, by SSC. However, it will only be held for the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise & Income Tax). In it, candidates will have to go through Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) in which candidates will have to show 8000 key depression in 1 hour.
The qualifying criteria for Skill Test is 200 key depression in 15 minutes. It should be noted that it will be qualifying in nature and the final merit list will be prepared on the basis of SSC CGL Tier 1, 2, and 3 Result.
