Red alert has been announced in Odisha due to TITLI Cyclone. The level of rainfall in the area increased from heavy to very heavy in a blink of an eye. This has compelled RRB Bhubaneswar to cancel Group D exam on October 11 and 12. The Board announced the cancellation of the examination a day before the exam, i.e. on October 10. The aspirants who traveled from far had no option but to return back without giving the paper. However, the situation in the state has turned so bad that hundreds of candidates are stranded in the railway station as no trains are running due to the destructive cyclone.
TITLI Cyclone is a very severe cyclonic storm. According to the warnings, the cyclone may go above the wind speed of 145 km per hour. North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura are also under the radar.
The cyclone season in India is stretched from April to December and the peak is from May to November.
The cancelled exam was to be held in Cuttack, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Berhamapur, Khurda, and Bhubanesawr. For the examination, the candidates traveled from all over the state and outside as well. Many candidates came to know about the RRB Bhubaneswar cancelling the exam while their were coming to the exam city and were in the train. At that moment they had no option to return. Most of the stranded candidates also have return ticket but cannot travel back as no trains are running. Candidates are now anxious for their safety and health reasons.
New Date for Cancelled Exam
The new exam date for RRB Group D cancelled exams has not been announced yet. So far, RRB has released dates, session, and centre til October 26, 2018. The exam date for candidates whose examination will be held October 29 onwards will be announced on October 18. Now, it is being expected that RRB will also announce the exam date for the cancelled exam on or after October 18, 2018.
More Exams to be Cancelled due to TITLI Cyclone?
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has submitted its report. As per it, the cyclone will be at a severe state on October 11 but on October 12, it will be in deep depression. After that, on October 13, 2018, the things are expected to become a little better. RRB Group D will then be held from October 15 onwards. Hence, it is anticipated that no further exam will be cancelled.
