The Ministry of Railways has issued an employment notification for Recruitment of Constable in Railway Protection Force (RPF). The recruitment is open for both Male and Female candidates. The candidates selected for the given post will be in level 3 of 7th CPC Pay matrix with an initial pay of Rs. 21, 700/- and Allowances.
The number of vacancies for Male and Female candidates differs for RPF Recruitment for the post of Constable. For Male candidates, there are a total of 804 number of vacancies in SR, SWR and SCR Zonal Railway, out of which, 656 is for UR, 82 for SC, 34 for ST and 32 for OBC. In CR, WR, WCR, SECR, there are a total of 440 number of vacancies, out of which 329 is for UR, 42 for SC, 18 for ST and 51 for OBC. In ER, ECR, SER & ECoR Zonal Railway, there are 877 vacancies for UR, 184 for SC, 134 for ST and 92 for OBC. In the NR, NER, NWR & NCR, there are 761 vacancies for UR, 152 for SC, 68, 65 for ST and OBC respectively. In NFR Zonal Railway, there is 135, 05, 12, 07 number of vacancies for UR, SC, ST, and OBC.
For Female Candidates, in SR, SWR and SCR Zonal Railway, there are 621 vacancies for UR, 114 for SC, 54 for ST and 138 for OBC. In CR, WR, WCR, SECR Zonal Railway there are 388 vacancies in UR, 92 for SC, 45 for ST and 187 for OBC. In ER, ECR, SER & ECoR Zonal Railway, there are 816 vacancies for UR, 201 for SC, 132 for ST and 242 for OBC. In the NR, NER, NWR & NCR, there are 646 vacancies for UR, 141 for SC, 75, 144 for ST and OBC respectively. In NFR Zonal Railway, there is 128, 17, 14, 21 number of vacancies for UR, SC, ST, and OBC.
The online registration for the post of Constable in RPF will begin from June 01, 2018. The last date for submitting the application form is Juen 30, 2018. The applications have to be filled and submitted by online mode only at the official website of Indian Railways, indianrailways.gov.in. The candidates have to submit only ONE application. Also, those female candidates who applied in response to notification 01/2016 issued by South Central Railway need not require to apply again.
To apply for the given post, the candidates need to pay an amount of Rs. 250/- as the application fee charges. The application fee can be paid by both Online and Offline mode.
The recruitment process involves Computer-based test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT), and finally Document Verification.
The CBT shall be held in the month of September and October 2018. The exam will be held at various centers across the country. The examination will be of 10th/ Matric level standard. The duration of the exam is 90 minutes in which the candidates need to 120 MCQ type questions. For the CBT the candidates need to prepare for General Awareness which is of 50 marks, Arithmetic which is of 35 marks and General Intelligence & Reasoning which is of 35 marks also.
For every correct answer, +1 marks will be given. There is a negative marking of 1/3 marks for an incorrect answer.
To appear for the Computer-based test, the registered candidates will be issued an Admit Card. It will be available for download 10 days before the test at the official website of Indian Railways. No candidate will receive their RPF Recruitment 2018 Admit Card by post. The admit card will consist of the personal details of the candidate along with their colored photograph and basic details of the exam such as exam date, timings, the address of the exam center, etc. The registered candidates will recieve an SMS or email at their registered email id and mobile number.
Cut off Marks to qualify CBT: 35% marks (30% in case of SC/ST candidates)
The PET and PMT are qualifying in nature, which means no marks are awarded in this. Only those qualify in CBT and make through the merit list will be eligible to appear for Phase II which is Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT).
To qualify PET, the candidates need to take part in the activities and complete them within the time period. The male candidates have to take part in 1600 meters run, which they have to complete in 5 min 45 secs, then in Long Jump (14 feet), and finally High Jump (04 feet). The female candidates, on the other hand, have to take part in 800 meters run, which they have to complete in 3 min 40 secs, Long Jump (09 feet), and High Jump (03 feet).
Appointment of the selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, Final Verification of educational, category certificates, etc and successful completion of Initial Training.
The finally selected candidates will then have to appear in Phase III which is Document Verification (DV). At the time of DV, the candidates need to bring along all the required documents in proof of Date of Birth, Category, Academic Background, etc.
