After a very recent deferral of the Rajasthan Eligibility Exam for Teacher (REET) 2021 to June 20, 2021, the long awaited exam is yet again expected to be postponed as per latest media reports. Although there is no official announcement yet, as per latest reports on print and digital media, the state education minister has expressed skepticism that the exam can be conducted on June 20 in light of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
The Rajasthan government approved the conduct of the REET 2021 exam after a long wait. As per reports, more than 31000 vacancies for 3rd Grade Teacher are to be filled up on the basis of this exam. At first, the government approved the conduct of the exam and the exam date was scheduled on April 25, 2021. However, very recently, the exam was postponed and the new date of conducting the exam was set to be on June 20, 2021.
Now, as per latest media reports, the exam may be postponed yet again due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has affected all realms of the society. If the exam is officially postponed yet again, then this will be the fifth time that the exam gets postponed in a duration of the last one year and six months.
Based on reports by major media sources, the Education Minister of the state Gobind Singh Dotasara has claimed that the REET 2021 exam cannot be conducted on June 20, 2021 as recently announced. The Minister was quoted highlighting the recent situation of the pandemic in India as a justification for postponing the exam yet again. As such, the exam may be postponed further while the Minister has indicated that the CM of the state will be consulted in this regard within a few days.
As per reports, more than 16 lakh candidates have applied for the upcoming REET exam. It has been reported that at least 3.5 lakh candidates have been preparing for the exam for more than 3 to 4 years now. After a long wait, the Chief Minister of the state announced that the REET exam will be conducted on August 02, 2020 initially. However, it was deferred to be held on September 02, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
The Education Minister then announced in February 2021 that the exam will be conducted in 2021. At that time, it was reported that the delay in conducting the exam was due to various decisions that were being taken by the government. Finally, the exam date was announced and again postponed to June 20, 2021.
Candidates must note that the REET 2021 exam date has not been officially postponed yet. However, attributed to the COVID-19 situation in India, the exam date is yet again likely to change and defer.
