PSTET Passing Marks Explained

After much wait and anticipation, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has announced the PSTET 2022 result. Each candidate has been issued a separate mark sheet which can be accessed on the official website pstet.pseb.ac.in. The mark sheet specifies whether or not a candidate has qualified the eligibility test. To qualify the test, a candidate needs to clear his/her category cut-off. Interestingly, while the result took time to release, PSEB had announced the passing marks days ahead. This figure essentially determines the qualifying status of a candidate.

The PSTET examination was successfully conducted at selected centres across the country, on December 24, 2021. Results were supposed to come out in January 2022. However, they were delayed by two months owing to unknown reasons.

PSTET 2022 – Category-Wise Passing Percentage & Marks

To qualify the PSTET 2022 examination, candidates need to score equal to above their category cut-off. According to the PSEB, the cut-off has been defined for two categories – reserved and unreserved. For each category, the state education board has defined the passing percentage and passing marks.

In the case of the unreserved category, the passing percentage is 60% corresponding to 90 marks. Similarly, the passing percentage for the reserved category of 55% corresponds to 85 marks.

Following is a table summarising the passing marks –

Name of CategoryPassing PercentagePassing Marks
Unreserved60%90 marks
Reserved 55%85 marks

Candidates who score equal to or above the passing percentage will be deemed ‘provisionally qualified’ for the teaching certificate. Such candidates will then, have to undergo document verification to ascertain their final eligibility. After successfully doing so, candidates will be awarded the teaching certificate, enabling them to teach at affiliated schools in Punjab.

PSTET 2022 – Overview of Checking Result

The PSTET December 2021 result has been announced through the online mode, on the official website pstet.pseb.ac.in. To check their result, candidates must visit the official portal and click on the result link. A new page will open asking for their login credentials. Candidates will have to key-in their login credentials using any one combination – 1. Application Number and Password and 2. Roll Number and Date of Birth.

On submitting the login credentials, the PSTET 2022 result will appear on the screen. For future reference, each candidate is advised to download or take a printout of the result sheet.

To the delight of candidates, the PSTET certificate has a lifelong validity. This implies that candidates will not have to give the eligibility test again, if he/she has qualified the December 2021 session.
