Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited has published detailed notification for the recruitment of 31 Management Trainee (Electrical) on the basis of GATE 2020 score. Online applications for recruitment to the aforementioned post can be uploaded on the official website i.e. optcl.co.in from December 07, 2020. The last date of submission of online applications is December 28, 2020. The vacancies are available in the Electrical discipline for the post of Management Trainee. 20 vacancies are unreserved while 03 are reserved for SC candidates, 06 for ST candidates and 02 for SEBC candidates. Selected candidates are to be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 50000 during the initial training period of 1 year. Thereafter, successful candidates are appointed at the designation of Assistant Manager (Electrical) Grade-E3 in the pay scale of Rs 56100 – Rs 177500 in the Level EE-2. At this stage, candidates will receive an initial basic pay of Rs 56100.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age in order to apply. Furthermore, the upper age limit is 32 years as on December 07, 2020. Relaxations on the upper age limit are however applicable for candidates belonging to special reserved categories. In terms of the minimum educational qualifications, candidates must have a degree in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering with at least 60% marks in aggregate. Candidates who have passed Section A&B of IE (India) in relevant discipline with 50% marks are also eligible to apply.

In addition to the aforementioned qualifications, candidates must have appeared in Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2020 exam and secured a valid score. Candidates are required to mention their GATE 2020 score when applying for the recruitment.
Certain other general eligibility conditions are specified by OPTCL in the detailed advertisement. Only Indian candidates are eligible to apply. Furthermore, it is mandatory for all applicants to be able to read, write and speak in Odia language fluently. Candidates must have passed Middle School exam with Odia as a subject, or Matriculation with Odia as a medium of examination. Else, candidates must have passed Odia as a language subject in Class VIII final exam or passed a test in Odia in Middle English School Standard.
Selection of candidates is to be done on the basis of GATE 2020 score in the Paper of Electrical Engineering (Paper Code-EE). Candidates are to be shortlisted on the basis of such score for Personal Interview. Offer of appointment is to be provided purely on the basis of merit. Final appointment order is however subject to medical fitness of the candidate as per company standards.
An application fee of Rs 1000 must be paid by UR and SEBC candidates while SC/ST and PwD candidates have to pay Rs 500 only. Departmental candidates are however exempted from the payment of any fee.
