PIB Fact Check nullified the validity of an Intelligence Bureau recruitment notice being circulated over the web recently. The government fact check wing of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) indicated on the official website pib.gov.in that the advertisement is fake. PIB also posted about the same on social media network Twitter to clarify that the IB recruitment notice is fake and not approved by the MHA. The agency indicated that systematic recruitment examinations are conducted by government agencies such as the UPSC, SSC for IB recruitment while other All India recruitment examinations are conducted for recruitment to certain posts of IB.
PIB has posted a snapshot of the fake recruitment notification which apparently invited applications to fill up 2000 vacancies for the post of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (ACIO) in the Intelligence Bureau. The notice looks exactly similar to a page from popular employment daily “Employment News”. PIB has clearly stated that recruitment is unsolicited. The government agency indicated that “MHA has NOT issued such a recruitment advertisement for the Intelligence Bureau“. The snapshot of the post by PIB is given below for reference.

Ironically, the fake recruitment news reads “Candidates are advised in their own interest to go through the detailed advertisement available at the website of MHA”. However, PIB has clarified that no such recruitment has been issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. In addition, the official website of the MHA as indicated in the fake advertisement is also incorrect which clearly points out that the recruitment notification is not authorized.
Prospective candidates who may have come across the notification are advised not to be misguided as it is clear now that there is no such recruitment being conducted for the post of ACIO in the Intelligence Bureau. Agencies like the Union Public Service Commission and Staff Selection Commission which holds all India basis recruitment examinations regularly to fill up vacancies for various government departments are generally responsible to conduct recruitment to Intelligence Bureau. Any such recruitment would therefore have been notified through the official website of such agencies first.
It may be noted that PIB Facts Check was launched by the Press Information Bureau in 2019. The Twitter handle of PIB Facts Check appropriately sums up the objective to the government agency i.e. “Countering misinformation on Government policies/schemes”. In the past, PIB Facts Check has taken down such improper and unsolicited misinformation regarding Government activities. Concerned candidates and incumbents can visit the official website of PIB i.e. pib.gov.in to remain informed about such misguiding web circulations which are continuously monitored by PIB.
