Additionally, it must be noted that the call letter can only be attained through the online mechanism provided by IBPS and no candidate will be permitted to either collect it offline or be sent the admit card by post.
So far the IBPS PO main exam is concerned, it is also expected to be held in January 2022. Last year the exam was held on February 5. It can be speculated with certainty that the exams will be held in January itself. However, if an unprecedented delay is caused, by far the exam will be conducted in early February. Anyway the institute will be releasing the detailed timetable containing the specific date in due course. Meanwhile, candidates who have qualified in the preliminary exam can go through the IBPS PO main exam syllabus.
IBPS PO Syllabus
The main exam covers sections such as Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, English, and Data Analysis & Interpretation. A detailed marks-wise breakup along with the weightage distribution has been provided in the table below:
Name | No. of questions | Maximum Marks |
Reasoning & Computer Aptitude | 45 | 60 |
General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness | 40 | 40 |
English Language | 35 | 40 |
Data Analysis & Interpretation | 35 | 60 |
As can be ascertained from the table above, more weightage is given to the Reasoning and Data interpretation sections. In the case of the English language paper, the institute has notified that the descriptive sections that include ‘Letter Writing’ and ‘Essay Writing’, will be evaluated by an “automated scoring mechanism” to check writing proficiency despite the exam being objective-based.
IBPS has further notified that the candidates appearing for the mains examination are mandatorily required to carry along a list of documents to the exam venue. These include the IBPS PO main exam call letter, stamped call letter of the preliminary exam, and a valid photo ID proof. It must be noted that the photo ID proof must be the original one and not a xerox copy, and it must bear the name as per the application form and the call letter. Failure to produce any of these documents at the time of evaluation shall lead to disqualification and cancellation of candidature.
IBPS PO Mains Preparation Tips
Candidates can refer to the following tips to guarantee themselves a good score in the IBPS PO Mains 2021 exam:
- Do Mock Tests on a regular Basis: Taking mock tests has two benefits. For example, it gives the applicant a good understanding of their current level of preparation. It helps with time management. Secondly, it identifies the weak parts and provides the space for a candidate to make improvements.
- Read newspapers and watch the news: Candidates should put up greater effort by observing and reading the news. Candidates should read the newspaper on a regular basis, focusing on the business pages to keep up with current events for the exam. Some other finance-based newspapers like The Economic Times, and watching CNBC would prove to be essential in this regard. When attempting the General Awareness component of the exam, this becomes a significant distinction.
- Concentrate on each Subject: A candidate is required to prepare for five major subjects as listed above. As a result, it is critical that a candidate devotes appropriate time to the preparation of each subject featured in the IBPS PO syllabus, rather than focusing solely on one subject.
- Plan an effective strategy: The number of hours you devote to each topic area will depend on your level of comfort in that area. Make a unique, personalized study strategy. The goal should be to first cover the basics of all areas before moving on to increasing speed and accuracy.
Once the IBPS PO main exam is successfully concluded, the institute will declare the results. Thereafter, it will initiate the next and the final round of the IBPS PO recruitment process, viz., the interview round. Dates for the same will be announced later.
