Jharkhand High Court has ordered the 7th JPSC Mains examination tentatively scheduled from January 28 to 30, 2022 to be stalled until further notice. A bench comprising High Court Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad gave this judgement after hearing the case via video conferencing. This decision came after the HC heard the stance of both sides on a petition filed by Kumar Sanyam that questioned the introduction of reservation in the preliminary examination of JPSC 7th to 10th.

What is the JPSC Reservation Issue?
Kumar Sanyam has found a petition with the Jharkhand HC over the discrepancy in the preliminary test result published by the commission for JPSC 7th to 10th. As per the petition, there was no clause that said reservation policy for reserved category students shall be applicable in the JPSC preliminary examination. However, when the results of the preliminary test were released, it was found that out of 114 seats proposed for the open category only 784 candidates were successful. Whereas, as per the notification, at least 15 times of the vacancies i.e. 1710 candidates have to be selected. With this, it was very clear that the remaining seats were allotted to the reserved category.
This petition has put the ruling government under serious criticism by the opposition who are now demanding a CBI inquire into the irregularities and discrepancies that have occurred in this examination.
Government’s Stance on this Issue
After the HC’s verdict was out, Chief Minister of the state, Hemant Soren accepted that there were some irregularities in the PT result. However, the government stands with High Court’s order and it shall be releasing the fresh results within 3 weeks as ordered by the court.
What’s Next? When will be JPSC 7th to 10th be held?
Now, with this judgement, it is now clear that until the fresh results of successful candidates are released there are no chances for JPSC Mains examination. Also, the Court has given three weeks to the government i.e. 3rd week of February 2022. This simply means that JPSC 7th to 10th mains can be held in or after March 2022 after the government comes up with a new policy.
