West Bengal Public Service Commission in its recent notification has announced the recruitment process for Junior Scientific Officer and Assistant Soil Chemist. Aspirant can refer to Advertisement No. 14 / 2020 for Junior Scientific Officer and Advertisement No. 15 / 2020 for Assistant Soil Chemist available on wbpsc.gov.in. WBPSC has advertised a total of 02 vacancies for Junior Scientific Officer post and 01 vacancies for Assistant Soil Chemist post. Online application form both these posts can be submitted by September 02, 2020.
The recruitment to the Assistant Soil Chemist is for the department of Forests, Government of West Bengal. Junior Scientific Officer post is advertised for the Science and Technology Department under the Government of West Bengal. Candidates who are appointed under these posts receive a monthly remuneration of Rs.15,600/- – Rs.42,000/-.
Aspirants must possess a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering or Telecom Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Biotechnology or Radiophysics and Electronics to apply for Junior Scientific Officer. Those who have Master’s degree in Physics or Chemistry or Bio Science or Geology or Geography or Applied Physics or Applied Chemistry are also eligible. Moreover, they must have secured at least 55% marks in their Bachelor’s/Masters. To apply for Assistant Soil Chemist post, candidates must have M. Sc in Chemistry or M. Sc in Agriculture with Agricultural Chemistry and/or Soil Science. A minimum of 02 years of the work experience in Soil Science is required for this post as well.
Candidate’s age should not exceed that of 36 years as on January 01, 2020. They must be proficient with the Bengali language. However, language proficiency is not compulsory for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali.
Applications for the said posts can be submitted by visiting the official website, wbpsc.gov.in. Unreserved category candidates are required to make a payment of Rs. 210/- as the application fee. However, those belonging to SC/ ST of West Bengal/ PWD candidates are not required to pay the fee. Candidates can pay the fee through both online and offline processes.
Selection criteria for WBPSC recruitment 2020 include the PST round and/or interview round. The Preliminary Screening Test (PST) is conducted only if a large number of candidates are found eligible for the post. PST round will help to shortlist candidates for the interview round.
