The final results for the Civil Services examination 2020 have been declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The preliminary examination was conducted on October 04, 2020. Out of the 2053 students who had qualified for the personality test (interview) session, a total of 761 candidates have been recommended for appointment. After the declaration of the result, it turned out that Shubham Kumar, an alum of IIT Bombay, has topped the list of meritorious candidates.
After Kumar, the topper list is followed by Jagarati Awasthi who secured the All India Rank (AIR) 2 and Ankita Jain who holds AIR 3. Awasthi is also the topper among the women candidates. The list is followed by Yash Jaluka, Mamta Yadav, Meera K, Praveen Kumar, Jivani Kartik Nagjibhai, Apala Mishra and Satyam Gandhi. All these candidates have secured the top ten spot.
Shubham Kumar holds a B. Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Bombay. He has first cracked the UPSC Civil Services examination in 2019. He is a resident of the Katihar district in Bihar and is presently training as an Indian Defence Accounts Service probationer in Pune. On his success, Bihar’s chief minister Nitish Kumar congratulated him through a Twitter post.
It was Jagrati Awasthi’s childhood dream to fulfil what she has achieved. After joining the country’s bureaucracy, Awasthi wants to work for rural development. She completed her B.Tech from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal. Upon graduating, she worked at Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) from 2017-2019. However, even after getting a job in her field of study, she did not stop working hard to become a civil servant.
It was Ankita Jain’s fourth attempt at UPSC CSE. In her second attempt, she secured a rank based on which she is currently posted at the Audit and Accounts Services, Mumbai. However, just a month prior to the UPSC 2020 main examination, she contacted COVID-19. Nevertheless, she did not stop putting her efforts into the examination. Her husband is also a civil servant (IPS) and is presently posted in the Maharashtra cadre.
Out of the top 25 candidates who have qualified for UPSC 2020, 13 are men while 12 are women. Candidates, whose names have appeared in the topper list released by the Commission, will be joining IAS, IPS and IFS, along with various other central services. Out of the recommended list of candidates, 25 are with Benchmark disabilities. The complete list of the qualified candidates is now available on upsc.gov.in.
