UPSC Is Likely to Announce IAS Result 2018 on July 15; Main Exam to be Held in Sep-Oct

According to the latest news reports, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will declare IAS Result 2018 by July 15, 2018. The Commission has not confirmed the date for the announcement of the result. It has only been reported in a few news reports. In any case, UPSC will announce the result by the end of July 2018 because the admit card for IAS Main exam is expected to be issued in the month of August 2018.

How to check IAS result 2018?

The result of IAS 2018 will be disclosed online, on the official website upsc.gov.in. In order to check the result, the candidates will have to visit the website and click on the link for the result pdf. The pdf will only contain the roll numbers of the qualified candidates. The pdf will also contain the roll number(s) of those candidates whose result will be withheld, due to any reasons.

Cutoff for IAS Prelims

UPSC will determine cut off for Civil Services prelims examination. The cut off will be disclosed on or after the final result, which will be announced after the interview round. Last year, the cutoff for IAS prelims examination was 105.34 for the General category candidates. The same for the candidates belonging to OBC, SC, ST category was 102.66, 88.66, and 88.66, respectively. For PH-1, PH-2, and PH-3 candidates it was 85.34, 61.34, and 40.00.

IAS Main Exam Dates 2018

Qualifying candidates of the prelims exam will be issued admit card for IAS Main examination. Candidates will be appearing for the Main exam on September 28, 29, 30 and October 06, 07, 2018. The Main exam will be of 1750 marks and will be held in offline mode. The purpose of the examination will be to access the overall intellectual level of the candidate.

Cutoff for IAS Main exam

The result of IAS Main examination will be declared by December end. The cut off for the Main examination will also be announced after the final result. Last year it went as high as 809 for General category. For OBC, SC, and ST category it was 770, 756, and 749. The previous year cutoff for PH-1. PH-2, and PH-3 candidates was 734, 745, and 578.

What to Expect from Interview Test

Those who will qualify the Main exam will be called for the interview round. The round will be focused on evaluating the candidates on the overall basis rather than just knowledge. The candidates who will qualify the interview round will be recruited.

The final cut off for the interview round was 1006 for General category, 968 for OBC, 944 for SC candidates and 939 for the ST candidates. The same for the PH-1, Ph-2, and Ph-3 candidates was 923, 948, and 830, respectively.
