The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has conducted the UPSC Engineering Service Examination (Preliminary) 2022 today, on February 20, 2022, from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m in two shifts. The General Paper along with the Engineering Aptitude test was conducted from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. and the discipline specific paper was conducted from 2.00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. UPSC is expected to release the answer key of the exam in a few weeks time. However, various educators have published the unofficial answer keys of the exam soon after the exam concluded.

The Paper 1 examination was reported to be moderate to difficult according to candidates. While the reasoning section saw a dip in the number of questions as compared to previous years, it was one of the easy sections to attempt. Current affairs, mathematical and numerical ability and reasoning section carried the most weightage in the Paper 1 examination. In the Paper 2 examination which was subject specific, the Electronics paper had lengthy questions which ranged from easy to moderate. The Mechanical paper had a mixture of easy, moderate and very difficult questions as there were many calculations to be done. The Civil paper was of moderate level with less numerical and the introduction of passage question this year. The Electrical paper was also a mixture of easy to difficult questions to answer.
