Breaking silence on the matter, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has released an official press release. Signed by UGC Secretary, the release says that the UGC NET 2022 result will be declared in a day or two. Since the press release is dated the 16th of February, it can be extrapolated from this statement that the result will be declared either on 17th or 18th February.
The press release says:
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conduct of December-2020 UGC-NET could not take place. Consequently, the UGC-NET of December 2020 and June 2021 Cycles were conducted together by National Testing Agency (NTA) between 20th November, 2021 and 05th January, 2022.
The UGC-NET was conducted in 81 subjects, in 837 centres spread across 239 cities in the country. More than 12 lakh candidates registered for UGC-NET. The processing of results is underway. The Chairman, UGC, Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar said that UGC is working closely with NTA and all efforts are being made to declare the UGC-NET results in a day or two. He wished the candidates all the best.
Process and criteria for UGC NET result 2022 declaration
Step 1. The number of applicants who qualify for the exam will be equal to 6% of the total candidates who appeared for both the NET exams.
Step 2. The total vacancies will be allocated to various categories as per the reservation policy prescribed by the Indian Government.
Step 3. The eligibility criterion for ‘JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor’ or ‘Assistant Professor’ includes appearing for both papers and securing an aggregate of 40% marks for general candidates and 35% marks for applicants belonging to the reserved categories.
Step 4. The aggregate percentage of the two exams corresponding to the number of vacancies will decide the qualifying cut-off for eligibility criteria for ‘Eligible for Assistant Professor’ in a particular subject in a category.
Step 5. Only those students who applied for ‘Eligibility for JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both’ out of the total number of passed candidates will constitute the students considered for JRF.
Step 6. The qualifying cutoff for JRF will be determined by the aggregate percentage of the two exams as corresponding to the no. of JRF slots arrived at.
Procedure to normalize for UGC NET 2022 Result
Step 1. If papers were held in multiple shifts, then the provisional marks achieved by the student in different sessions will be converted to percentile or NTA scores.
Step 2. To understand the detailed process on the NTA score being adopted, refer to the ‘Normalization Procedure based on the percentile score’ on the NTA website http://www.ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
Step 3. If a subject is conducted in multiple sessions, the NTA score will be determined corresponding to the raw score achieved by the student. The calculated NTA marks for the raw marks will be combined for further determination for allocation decision.
Step 4. If any situation arises of the percentile in the multiple sessions being unequal, then the lowest score will be the qualifying cut-off for all applicants.
There will be no re-evaluation or re-checking of the exam. No request or demand for the same will be considered.
The first provisional answer key for all the subjects featured within the exam was published on January 21, 2022. The candidates can raise objections to altering some responses on the NTA website until the result is declared. Candidates are advised to monitor the website for further updates.
