The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2021 is expected to start very soon with the Tamil Nadu Class 12 results of 2021 released recently. Based on the previous year schedule, the online registration window is expected to release before the end of July 2021. TNEA is conducted by Anna University in Tamil Nadu. Candidates seeking admission to UG programs in TN colleges are shortlisted on the basis of marks secured in the Class 12 exams.
What is TNEA?
Irrespective of what TNEA 2021 might sound like, it is not an entrance test of any sort. However, eligible aspirants in Tamil Nadu are offered admission to B.Tech and B.E programs in Universities and affiliated Engineering colleges through TNEA counselling. Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions is the expanded form of the acronym TNEA.
UG Engineering aspirants in the state are therefore invited by Anna University to register for TNEA at the official website tneaonline.org for appearing in the counselling. The exact dates of the start and end of TNEA Registrations 2021 can be known with the release of the official notification.
Last year, the online registrations were conducted from July 05 to August 16, 2021. Subsequently, the merit lists were released on the last date of September last year i.e. on September 30, 2021.
Eligibility Criteria for TNEA 2021
Candidates are required to comply with certain minimum conditions of eligibility for Engineering admissions in Tamil Nadu through TNEA 2021. With the registration window still open, candidates must check these conditions and register online as soon as possible.
Domicile Criteria
Based on the previous year notification, candidates who have studied Class 8 to 12 in schools located in Tamil Nadu are eligible irrespective of their nativity. However, those who have studied Class 8 to 12 in schools located outside Tamil Nadu have to produce a nativity certificate. Wards of Central Government employees who have been serving in Tamil Nadu for the last five years are also eligible irrespective of their nativity. Besides, wards of All India Service Tamil Nadu Cadre Officers are also eligible.
Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have passed Class 12 with at least 45% marks in order to apply for the TNEA 2021 admissions. This is based on the previous year information brochure since the latest notification is yet to the announced. Candidates must have secured this minimum average marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The minimum pass percentage for reserved category candidates is 40%.
Age Limits
Based on the previous year information brochure, the maximum age permissible is 25 years. However, relaxation on the maximum age can be availed by candidates belonging to special reserved categories only.
TNEA 2021 – Colleges & Seats
As per reports, more than 9000 seats are available in Tamil Nadu to be filled up through TNEA 2021. Through TNEA 2021, the seats in undergraduate engineering degree programs offered by the University department of Anna University and affiliated colleges are filled up. Besides, candidates can also check out important government colleges where one can get admission through TNEA 2021.
