The Government has also set up a committee to study the opinion of students. Aspirants who have applied for NEET 2021 can submit their opinions through the prescribed email on or before June 23, 2021.
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) is an all India pre-medical entrance exam based on which students can get admission into undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS) and equivalent AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) The NEET-UG 2021 Exam is scheduled to take place on August 01, 2021. Students from all over the nation are demanding the cancellation/ postponement of the NEET-UG 2021 exam.
As per TN Chief Minister, MK Stalin, the NEET UG exam and other professional national level examinations should also be cancelled owing to the COVID-19 second wave. In an interview, he stated, “Given the circumstances, I have a strong opinion that conducting a national level exam for any professional course would be detrimental to the well-being and health of the candidates”. Hence, he urges the Centre to cancel the conduct of national level entrance exams like NEET.
TN Government has asked students to submit their opinions “either by email or post or may drop in the box kept at the committee office in Director of Medical Education campus”. Candidates can submit their ideas and opinions to [email protected] before June 23, 2021. As per the official advertisement, students can write their opinion in not more than 05 pages and then send it to the prescribed email.
The state government has also set up a committee chaired by the retired judge of the Madras High Court, Hon’ble Justice A.K. Rajan. The committee has been entrusted with the responsibility to study the opinions submitted by the candidates by the last date. As per the reports, the final report of the committee will be used to justify the government’s proposal of exemption from the NEET entrance exam. However, the Hindu quoted former VC of Anna University E. Balagurusamy that is very unlikely for the state to get exemption from the NEET UG 2021 exam.
Moreover, speculations are made that National Testing Agency (NTA) will release NEET UG 2021 news after June 23, 2021. With the second wave and the precaution to the third wave, it is most likely that NTA may postpone NEET-UG 2021 Exam.
