The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Group D exams which were going to commence from February 23 might be postponed again. The exams were scheduled to be conducted from April to June 2021 but the dates were postponed due to the COVID-19 restrictions. The revised date of February 23 might also get deferred for the same reason and owing to the sudden rise in COVID cases across the country. However, there have been no official notifications regarding the postponement.
Recently, several exams have been canceled and/or deferred until further notice owing to the sudden, unprecedented rise in COVID cases. Lockdowns and restrictions have also been imposed in several states and major cities around the country. Schools and colleges have alo faced closure till further notice. Given the situation, it is highly possible that the exam for the RRB Group D, much to candidates disappointment, are postponed further for the second time.
The RRB Group D exams are a national-level exam conducted on behalf of the Railway Recruitment Cells. Candidates who wish to join the Indian Railways for the various posts in Level 1 of the 7th CPC pay matrix Track maintainer Grade IV, assistant in various technical departments, etc. A total of 1.03.769 vacancies have been announced for the 2021 recruitment The minimum qualification required for the exam is matriculation. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 33 is eligible for the exam.
The exam is conducted in three stages. The first is a computer-based test for a total of 100 marks. The exam has to be concluded within 30 minutes. It has questions from four sections- General Science (25 marks), Mathematics (25 marks), General Intelligence and Reasoning (30 marks), and General Awareness and Current Affairs (20 marks). Each correct answer gets the candidates one mark and 0.5 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. The second stage is a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and the last stage is a document verification and medical examination.
The RRB Group D admit cards will be available for download 4 days before the exam. A candidate needs to use his user ID login and password to download the admit card. They need to carry it along with a valid photo ID in order to get access to the examination hall. Links to mock tests and previous years’ questions papers will also be available to the candidates on the official website rrbcdg.gov.in. Candidates who are appearing for the exam can also start accessing them now from private sources to be better prepared for the exam. A total of 1.15 crore candidates have enrolled for the exam.
