The Odisha Police Recruitment Board will hold an open competitive examination for the recruitment of Sub Inspector (SI) in Odisha Police. According to the official advertisement, the computer-based exam will be held from August 6 to 16, 2021. The recruitment drive is to fill 477 posts of Sub Inspectors in the state police department.
The application window for the recruitment drive has been closed on July 15. According to the statistics presented by the recruitment board, as many 1,32,496 applicants including 97,506 male, 34,964 female, and 26 transgender persons have applied for the 477 Sub Inspector posts in Odisha.
Ahead of the computer-based test, the board is releasing a link for practice/ mock tests before one week of the examination, i.e. on July 31, 2021. The link will be available at (odipolsi21.onlineapplicationform.org/ODIPOL/) to the applicants for familiarization with the exam pattern.
The first stage Computer-Based Recruitment Examination (CBRE) will consist of 2 papers. In paper 1, as many as 100 questions will be asked from general English and Odia languages whereas, paper-2 will carry 200 questions based on General Studies. The duration of paper 1 will be 90 minutes, whereas, 180 minutes will be allotted for paper 2. Each correct answer will carry 1 mark. A negative marking, 0.25 marks for each wrong answer will also be applicable in the examination.
Tentatively, the Computer Based Recruitment Examination will be held from August 6 to 16, 2021. However, the specific date, time, venue of the CBRE will be conveyed in due course through the admit cards. The admit cards are expected to be released by July 31, 2021. In addition, an alert message will also be sent to candidates on their registered email id or mobile number, an official statement says.
According to a recent notice, the state police department has issued a corrigendum notice with modifications in the RFP schedule. With this, the e-tender call for conducting Computer Based Recruitment Examinations and Practical Skill Test (Computer) for recruitment of Jr Clerks in DPO Cadre of Odisha Police has been revised. According to this, the commercial and final bid will open on August 02, 2021. Earlier, the same was supposed to commence on July 26. With this, the possibilities of delay in Computer Based Recruitment Exam dates can’t be denied.

Meanwhile, the board chairman R K Sharma has said that the board’s priority would be to ensure timely recruitment of the Sub Inspectors in a transparent manner. Hence, aspirants should keep preparing for the computer-based exam. In order to ace the examination, students should go through the detailed syllabus available at the official website- odishapolice.gov.in.
For questions based on General English, candidates are advised to attempt the previous year’s question papers, mock test. On the other hand, for the General Awareness section, candidates are advised to go through current affairs, and facts about the General Science, History, Geography, and Polity of India. In addition, to score high marks in mental ability, reasoning, and numerical aptitude, candidates are advised to practice already covered topics. For basic computer literacy, a quick revision on Computer’s basics and its applications should be covered.
