Delhi University has decided the dates for its UG admission 2021-22, and PG admission 2021-22.
The varsity shall conduct admission to various Undergraduate programs from August 02, 2021, and for the Postgraduate programs the process will start sooner, from July 26, 2021.
The information has been conveyed to the press, by the Acting Vice Chancellor, PC Joshi.

As can be seen, the university has fixed a schedule for the UG admissions in tune with the class 12 results; as per Supreme Court orders, the Central Board of Secondary Education and other boards will declare class 12 board exam results latest by July 31, 2021. Following through, the procedure for admission to undergraduate programs at the University of Delhi will commence.
With this announcement, the queries of students on when will DU start registration, can be put to rest.
Will DU UG admission 2021 be through CUCET or merit based?
At this moment, confirmation has only come on the schedule. However press reports also indicate how the admission process will happen this year.
As per reports, Dean, Admissions, University of Delhi Pinki Sharma, the University had said that the competent authority are yet to take a final decision regarding admissions based on the Central Universities Common Entrance Test. And in case no decision comes through, DU will start UG admission on merit basis from August 2.
Since the date of August 2 has been finalized, it seems that the university is going ahead with merit based admissions only.
This year, admissions to the DU were anticipated to be conducted on the basis of CUCET. As per earlier reports, if CUCET based admissions are conducted then the issue of meritorious students getting rejected even after scoring high marks can be solved. The University is known to set sky-high cut-offs for admission. As per reports, in some affiliated colleges of Delhi University last year, the cut-offs went as high as 100%. In such cases, even those students who may have scored even 90% to 95% marks in the exam do not get selected.
CUCET based admissions had the potential to resolve this issue as the merit of the candidates could be determined not only on the basis of Class 12 marks but also on the basis of CUCET marks. As per reports, certain officials were quoted saying earlier that the University was considering to attribute 50-50 marks weightage to CUCET and Class 12 marks for deciding merit in case of UG admissions. However, there was significant opposition to CUCET based admissions in DU as well.
There was widespread speculation throughout the first half of this year regarding the conduct of the Ministry of Education’s Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) for admission to all central universities in India. The Ministry is yet to take a final decision upon the modalities of the proposed CUCET exam under the National Education Plan. While it was highly anticipated that admission to Delhi University will be done on the basis of both Class 12 exam merit and CUCET score this year, there is no official confirmation as to when the exam can be conducted, if at all it is conducted.
