National Testing Agency (NTA) announced UGC NET Dec 2018 exam date today at ntanet.nic.in on 21 Oct 2018. National Eligibility Test will be held on 18 Dec 2018 (Tuesday), 19 Dec 2018 (Wednesday), 20 Dec 2018 (Thursday), 21 Dec 2018 (Friday), 22 Dec 2018 (Saturday).
On each day, the national level exam to determine Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian Universities and Colleges will be held in two shifts. The first shift shall be from 9:30 AM to 1 PM, and second shift will be from 2:30 PM to 6 PM. Last reporting time for furst shift is 8:30 AM, and last reporting time for second shift is 1:30 PM. Applicants of UGC NET exam shall be intimated about their exam date, shift, centre via admit card releasing on 19 Nov 2018.
Initially when the examination was announced, NTA had mentioned exam dates to be from 09 Dec 2018 to 23 Dec 2018. Under the important dates table in information brochure it was mentioned that ‘Exact date and shift of examination shall be made available by 21st October, 2018 on NTA’s website’.
The official website of NTA UGC NET Dec 2018 is ntanet.nic.in. Latest update under current events section has an update that says ‘Public notice of Examination Date and Shift’. On clicking that, a PDF file with exact exam dates, shift, admit card availability date and instructions can be seen as given below.
Candidates can download admit card at ntanet.nic.in from 19 Nov 2018 via candidate login where they need to login by entering application number and password. It should be printed on a plain white sheet of paper; candidates are advised to take multiple copies of the same.
The National Testing Agency shall also give one chance to candidates to report discrepancies in particulars of candidate or photograph and signatures in admit card card and confirmation page. Candidates can contact NET helpline from 19 Nov 2018 to 25 Nov 2018. Those who report discrepancies can appear for exam with erroneous admit card only, however the exam conducting authorities will change details in database later on.
On the exam day, one needs to carry UGC NET Dec 2018 Admit Card printout, 1 passport size photograph same as the one uploaded in application form, one photo ID, and PWD certificate if applicable. Valid and non expired photo IDs that are aceptable are PAN card, driving license, voter ID, passport, aadhaar card with photograph, Aadhaar enrolment number, ration card.

UGC NET is a national level exam held for candidates who wish to become eligible for lectureship at University level or get Junior Research Fellowship, or both. Until last year the exam was held by CBSE and now NTA is organizing it. NTA UGC NET Dec 2018 shall be the first exam to be executed by NTA, following which it will conduct JEE Main 2019 in January.
