Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) has issued an important public notice on the official website iibf.org.in. According to this public notice, two crucial exams have been postponed indefinitely. First is the JAIIB/DB&F/SOB exam for the Principles & Practices of Banking subject while the second is JAIIB/DB&F exam for Accounting & Finance for Bankers subject. Both were scheduled for this weekend but, have been postponed due to the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases. A revised schedule will be announced at a later stage, preferably when the situation stabilises in the country.
IIBF was scheduled to conduct the Junior Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (JAIIB)/Design, Build & Finance (DB&F)/ Sub-Ordinate Staff of Banks (SOB) exam on Saturday, January 08, 2022. Another exam was scheduled on Sunday, January 09, 2022, for JAIIB/DB&F. However, both exams have been postponed without any definite later date.
The public notice issued by IIBF acknowledges the rising COVID-19 cases in the country, especially in the past few days. Furthermore, the fear of Omicron has forced several major states/UTs such as Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Bihar have imposed restrictions and curfews to curb the spread. Against this backdrop, the institute has decided to postpone the exams to a later stage.
The institute further clarified that the exam schedule for JAIIB/DB&F/SOB and CAIIB/CAIIB Electives remains the same. No changes have been imposed in that aspect. Hence, it is pertinent for candidates to note this change and follow the remaining schedule, as it is.
This change in schedule and the reason behind it implies one important fact – IIBF will be announcing fresh dates for the postponed exams only after the COVID-19 situation has subsided in the country. Given the current situation and predictions made by medical experts, the third wave is likely to subside in the February-March 2022 period. Hence, fresh dates are likely to be announced in the month of April 2022.
Candidates are advised to visit the official portal iibf.org.in for any new update in this regard. Fresh dates will most likely be announced through a public notice at a later stage. Hence, candidates are advised to keep an eye out for this public notice.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that IIBF decided on postponing the exam to a later stage. In fact, several institutions are pondering on postponing their exams indefinitely, especially under the prevailing circumstances. The pondering will most likely convert to a sure shot decision if major cities go into a lockdown.
