Army Recruiting Office -Gorkha Recruiting Depot, Ghoom has published a notification regarding the conduct of army recruitment rally for recruitment of eligible candidates to the post of Soldier GD. Eligible male candidates from the Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts can register online at joinindianarmy.nic.in from December 01, 2020 to January 07, 2021 to appear in the recruitment rally. Exact details about the conduct of the rally are to be notified later. Selection of applicants will be done through the rally followed by a written test and subsequent medical examination.
The recruitment is for the post of Soldier General Duty (Indian Domiciled Gorkhas). Complete details of the recruitment is available in the official recruitment notification. Only those candidates who are within the age of 17.5 years to 21 years are eligible to apply provided that they are domiciled in the districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong, West Bengal. Candidates must also be at least 157cm tall, weigh 48 kg and have 77cm chest measurement with 5cm expansion capacity. In addition, candidates must also have passed Class 10 with at least 45% aggregate marks and 33% in individual subjects.
Indian Army will issue admit cards to eligible applicants for appearing in the rally. Candidates can download the same from the official website as per schedule. At the rally site, physical fitness tests will be conducted including 1.6 km run, pull-ups, 9 feet ditch and zig-zag balance. In addition, physical measurements will also be taken. After the rally, a medical test will be conducted. Medically fit candidates will be required to appear in a Common Entrance Examination for which, admit cards will be issued on-site after the rally.
At the rally site, candidates are required to carry printed admit card, 20 or more copies of unattested passport sized color photographs, educational certificates, domicile certificates and other specified documents in original. Candidates have to mandatorily provided single bank A/c number, PAN card and Aadhar card details. In addition, it is advised to carry eatable and drinking water as the rally is a time consuming process.
Candidates are advised to read the detailed notification carefully and understand all the terms and conditions of recruitment before applying. Selection of candidates will be provisional till the Rahdari certificate is issued and the selected candidates are dispatched for training.
Before applying, candidates have to obtain a Covid-19 free certificate in the prescribed proforma from a Government hospital. The certificate must be issued not earlier than 48 years from the rally day. Masks, sanitizers and gloves must be carried by candidates.
