The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to announce notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2021 very shortly. As per sources, the same is expected to be released by the end of July 2021. The incumbent candidates are advised to visit the official website ctet.nic.in for updates.

Central Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by the CBSE to certify the qualifying candidates as eligible to apply for recruitment as a teacher in Government schools, KVs etc. With the official advertisement of the upcoming exam expected to release soon, aspiring candidates are advised to get on with preparations well in advance.

CTET aspirants must note that the CBSE invites online applications from eligible candidates once the advertisement is released. Tus, candidates meeting the minimum conditions of eligibility will be able to apply for the exam once the application window is opened. Since the updated eligibility criteria are intimated by the CBSE through the official advertisement only, candidates can check out the minimum eligibility conditions as per the last CTET exam here.

CTET Eligibility Criteria

As per the previous year CTET exam, there is no upper age limit for appearing in the CTET exam. Candidates who have attained at least 18 years of age and are Indian nationals are eligible for the CTET exam. Applicants must, however, have complete certain minimum educational qualifications in order to apply.

There are two papers in the CTET exam and CBSE lays down the CTET Eligibility Criteria individually for each paper. For example, candidates who have passed Class 12 with at least 45% marks and have a 2 Year D.El.Ed as NCTE Regulations is eligible. Furthermore, those who have passed Class 12 with 50% or more are eligible if they also have a 4 Year B.El.Ed or 2 Year D.Ed (Special Education). Candidates with a graduate degree (50% or more marks) and B.Ed qualification are also eligible for the CTET exam.

For Paper 2 of the CTET exam, candidates who have passed Class 12 with at least 50% marks and also have a 4 Year B.El.Ed or 4 Year BA/B.Sc Ed or BA Ed/B.Sc Ed is eligible. Those who have a Graduate degree and 02 Year D.El.Ed is also eligible. Graduate candidates (at least 50% marks) with 1 year B.Ed or 1-year B.Ed (Special Education) are also eligible. Those who have passed Graduation with 45% marks and have 1-year B.Ed (as per NCTE norms) are also eligible.

CTET Syllabus

The CBSE lays down the syllabus of each paper of the CTET exam in the official notification. Candidates aspiring for the exam are advised to refer to the syllabus to develop their study strategy. Each paper carries 150 MCQs in the English & Hindi languages only. Candidates are given 2.5 hours time to complete the exam of each paper.

CTET Paper 1 syllabus is comprised of the topics of Child Development & Pedagogy, Language 1 & Language 2, Mathematics and Environmental Science. CTET Paper 2 syllabus is similarly comprised of the Child Development & Pedagogy, Language 1 & Language 2 topics as common. In addition, Paper 2 also consists of 60 marks from Mathematics/Science or Social Science (as chosen by the candidate).

It is advised that CTET aspirants refer to the official website ctet.nic.in for the latest updates on the exam. Candidates can refer to the previous year exam notification for the detailed syllabus and eligibility terms and conditions of the exam.
