JEE Main 2021 Paper Analysis: Maths Tough-Lengthy, Physics Moderate, Easier Than Session 1, 2

National Testing Agency (NTA) has successfully conducted JEE Main 2021 Session 3 Shift 1 and Shift 2 with proper COVID-19 protocols. The first shift was held from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm. Whereas, the second shift of the exam concluded at 6.00 pm. Both the shifts of the exams were easy to moderate in the level of difficulty.

In shift 2, Mathematics was moderate to difficult. Whereas, Physics was easy to moderate. As expected, Chemistry was the easiest section in the exam. There were no major surprises in JEE Main paper. The paper was almost 50%-60% line of the expected difficulty level. At least 13 questions from each section can be considered a good attempt.

In shift 1, according to the students, Mathematics was tough and quite lengthy. Physics was moderate to difficult and Chemistry was easy. Considering the overall difficulty level of the paper, it was at par with the exam of the previous two sessions. The overall difficulty level of JEE Main 20 July 2021 Shift 1 was moderate. Many students found this session’s paper to be easier than the March and February session.

Numericals asked in the paper were formula based. Many questions asked in the exam were based on the previous year question papers of JEE Main. In the exam, 45% of questions were asked from the Class 11th syllabus whereas, 55% of questions were asked from Class 12th.

Subject-Wise JEE Main 20 July 2021 Analysis

In Chemistry, the weightage given to Organic and Inorganic Chemistry was almost equal. Many questions in Chemistry were directly asked from NCERT especially from the topics like Stoichiometry and Inorganic Chemistry. In Chemistry, some questions were assertion-reason based.

Some numerical questions in Mathematics required lengthy calculations.

In Physics, few numerical questions had lengthy calculations but were easy. Theory-Based questions from Class 12th chapters of NCERT were asked.

Weightage of Topics in JEE Main 20 July 2021 Exam

Mathematics: Vector, Determinant, Conic Sections, Ellipse, Permutation & Combination, Calculus, Algebra, Progressions

Chemistry: Co-ordination Compounds, Organic Chemistry, Compounds, Chemistry in Everyday Life, Ores & Metallurgy

Physics: Vectors, Resistance, Resistor, Kinematics, Gravitation, Optics, Electrostatics, EM Waves, Magnetism, Heat and Thermodynamics

Candidates who will be appearing for the JEE Main paper on the next few days should note that most of the questions in the Mathematics paper were based on basic. In Physic. there were some questions from gravitation, thermodynamics. Organic chemistry completed dominated today’s paper. Physical Chemistry has some numerical type questions like integer-based questions. There was a good number of questions from Mathematical Reasoning.

As per NTA, 6.8 lakh candidates have registered for JEE Main 2021 3rd Session. Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is a national-level engineering entrance exam held for admission into NITs, IIITs, CFTIs. It is also a gateway to appear for JEE Advanced. It is held as a computer-based test. Paper 1 of JEE Main comprises multiple-choice and numerical answer-type questions.
