Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) is all set to conduct the Tier – I online objective type examination 2021 on October 03, 2021. The registration process for the same took place on the official portal asrb.org.in and was concluded recently. Now that the interested candidates have applied for the exam, they need to start focusing on the three major aspects – exam paper pattern, syllabus and selection process. By focussing on all three domains, candidates can get shortlisted for two important posts namely, Administrative Officer (AO) and Finance & Accounts Officer (F&AO). Here are all the important details which candidates need to know about the exam pattern.
Firstly, the Tier-I exam is the same for both posts but, the Tier-II syllabus will be different for each post. So, right now, candidates interested in each of the two posts have to prepare to keep in mind the same syllabus and paper pattern.
The ASRB Tier-I 2021 examination will be conducted on October 03, 2021, for a duration of 3 hours/180 minutes. The paper will cover a total of 200 questions where each question will be allotted 1 mark. However, for every wrong answer, 1/3 marks will be deducted from the overall score. Since the exam is of qualifying nature, its score would not be considered in the final selection process. This exam is only meant for shortlisting candidates to the next stage depending on their performance.
The questions asked in the ASRB Tier-I 2021 examination will cover four subjects – 1. General Knowledge, 2. General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability, 3. Arithmetical & Numerical Ability and 4. Language Comprehension (Hindi or English). Each section will comprise 50 questions which imply that all subjects will be given equal weightage.
ASRB authorities have also provided a detailed list of topics that will be covered under each subject. Candidates can use the image given below to understand the exact syllabus which they need to cover to prepare for the Tier-I examination.

Based on the performance in the Tier-I 2021 examination, ASRB authorities will prepare a list of shortlisted candidates for the Tier-II examination. This list will be curated based on the criterion of minimum qualifying marks. Accordingly, 20 top scoring candidates for each vacancy will be declared qualified for the next round.
ASRB AO and F&AO 2021 recruitment process comprise three distinct stages – 1. Tier-I examination common for both posts, 2. Tier-II examination separate for each post and 3. Interview round. In the overall selection process, the Tier-II exam will hold a weightage of 600 marks while 100 marks will be allotted for the interview round. Thus, for the final selection process, candidates will be evaluated out of 700 marks.
