Results for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET 2021 have been released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The counselling process based on the NEET 2021 result is likely to begin any time soon. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will be releasing the counselling schedule shortly on the official website mcc.nic.in. Meanwhile, in the last few days, a very popular term that has surfaced on social media and other platforms is ‘NEET Phase 2 Exam 2021’. With this, a major question that has surfaced is what exactly Phase 2 of the NEET 2021 examination is.
Firstly, it is essential to note that officially, there has been no use of this term on the NEET 2021 website – neet.nta.nic.in. In fact, NTA has not mentioned anything about holding the NEET 2021 examinations once again. This term has been popularized by a section of social users that also include candidates who have already appeared and received the results for the NEET 2021 examination. It is noteworthy that this year’s undergraduate medical entrance examination has received several controversies and allegations. Right from the cheating scam to the question paper discrepancy, there has been a lot of fiasco over the NEET 2021 examination.
This has further made a section of candidates unhappy and hence they have taken to social media to demand a fresh NEET 2021 examination, which eventually got the ‘NEET Phase 2 Exam 2021’ term. Furthermore, candidates have alleged errors and discrepancies regarding the scores allotted to them. Moreover, the NEET 2021 final answer key released by NTA is also alleged to have discrepancies. Due to these developments, candidates and other stakeholders are now demanding another phase of the examination.
More than 8 lakh candidates have cleared the NEET 2021 examination and they are now eligible to seek admission to the undergraduate medical courses. Earlier, students have claimed a second phase of the medical entrance examination by citing that only one examination for all the colleges cannot decide the future of the candidates. According to them, this year’s exam was a ‘joke’ as there have been clashes, paper leaks, scams and mismanagement at the examination centres that have led to the wastage of time for several candidates.

In addition to this, another reason for holding the second phase of the NEET 2021 examination is JEE Main. Twitter users have stated that if JEE Main can be conducted four times in a year then why not the NEET exam be held two times. Hence, there should be a re-examination of NEET 2021.
