West Bengal Education Minister, Partha Chatterjee has confirmed that WBBSE Madhyanik and WBCHSE class 12th exams have been postponed and will now be conducted in the month of June. The decision to postpone WB 10th and 12th exams 2021 has been taken by both Madhyamik Pariksha and HSE Council. The class 10 and class 12 exams will be conducted one after the other this year.
The date sheet for WBBSE, WBCHSE exams will released later and can be downloaded from the board’s official website – wbbse.org, wbchse.nic.in. The board generally start conducting the exam between February and March every year. However, this year, due to COVID-19 situation, the exams have been postponed.
In the earlier notification released, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education had decided to promote class 6 and 9 students to the next grade without examinations due to the current situation. Also, earlier, Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal CM, in a press release said that this year no selection test will be conducted. Talking to the reporters she said that the students could not go to schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic since the schools have been closed since March. Hence, the education department has taken a decision that those willing to take the 2021 Madhyamik and Uccha-Madhyamik exams will not require to clear any test. They are allowed to sit for these (two) examinations.
The State Education Minister had further notified that as per the recommendation by the syllabus committee, 30% of WBBSE Syllabus and WBCHSE Syllabus has been curtailed as the pandemic forced down the closing of schools in the third week of March 2020. A blueprint for the same has also been made available on the board’s official website. Students appearing for the exam can take a look at it and prepare for the same accordingly.
Like West Bengal, the Karnataka state board also postponed their exams which generally start from March. Meanwhile, for CBSE board exam date 2021, the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, in his live interaction on Twitter on December 22 announced that CBSE board exams will not be held in February, also, further discussion on board exam date will be done after Feb.
