The AP FA1 exams 2026 are set to begin on August 3, 2026 in government and private schools across Andhra Pradesh. Formative Assessment 1 — also called CBA-1 (Classroom-Based Assessment 1) or Self Assessment 1 — is the first formal checkpoint of the 2026-27 academic year, and it covers only the lessons taught in June and July.
With barely a few days left, the single most useful thing a student can do is sit down with previous year AP FA1 question papers and work through them under exam conditions. Class-wise papers for Classes 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are available as free PDFs on schools.aglasem.com, with direct links given later in this article.
AP FA1 Exam Dates 2026
As per the Andhra Pradesh school academic calendar for 2026-27, the FA1 / CBA-1 assessment window is as follows.
| Assessment | Primary Schools (Classes 1-5) | High Schools (Classes 6-10) | Syllabus Covered |
|---|---|---|---|
| FA1 / CBA-1 | August 3 – 6, 2026 | August 3 – 7, 2026 | June and July lessons |
| FA2 | October 5 – 7, 2026 | October 5 – 8, 2026 | August and September lessons |
| SA1 | November 9 – 16, 2026 | November 9 – 20, 2026 | June to October lessons |
The academic calendar notes that any change in the assessment schedule will be intimated in due course, so students should treat these dates as tentative and confirm the final schedule with their own school.

Why AP FA1 Question Papers Matter More Than Students Think
FA1 is often dismissed as a “small test”. It is not. Here is what previous year FA1 question papers actually do for a student in the final week before the exam.
1. They reveal the exact question pattern
The FA1 written test follows a fixed four-section structure under the competency-based assessment framework. A student who has never seen the paper format loses time simply figuring out what is being asked. One solved previous year paper removes that problem entirely.
2. The syllabus is small, so the question pool repeats
FA1 covers only June and July lessons — typically the first two or three chapters of each subject. Because the syllabus is so narrow, question types recur year after year. Practising past papers is one of the highest-return activities available for this particular exam.
3. Every mark is recorded under CCE
FA1 marks are entered into the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation record along with FA2, FA3, FA4 and the summative assessments. They contribute to the progress report parents see and to the overall grade — a weak FA1 has to be compensated for later in the year.
4. Time management is the hidden skill being tested
The written test carries 35 marks in a 1 hour 15 minute window, including an 8-mark essay. Students who attempt a timed past paper at home learn to budget those minutes. Students who do not, routinely leave the essay half-written.
5. It settles nerves for Class 6 and sets the tone for Class 10
For Class 6 students, FA1 is often the first formal written assessment in high school. For Class 10 students, it is the first diagnostic of the SSC board year — an early signal of which subjects need attention while there is still time to fix them.
AP FA1 Marks and Paper Pattern 2026
FA1 is assessed out of 50 marks. For Classes 6 to 10, the marks are distributed across four components.
| Component | Marks |
|---|---|
| Written test (question paper) | 35 |
| Children’s participation and reflections | 5 |
| Written work | 5 |
| Project work | 5 |
| Total | 50 |
The 35-mark written paper for Classes 6 to 9 is divided into four sections and must be completed in 1 hour 15 minutes.
| Section | Question Type | Questions | Marks Each | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | Multiple Choice Questions | 15 | 1 | 15 |
| B | Short Answer | 2 | 2 | 4 |
| C | Long Answer | 2 | 4 | 8 |
| D | Essay | 1 | 8 | 8 |
Class 10 follows the same competency-based approach, with emphasis on conceptual understanding and application rather than rote recall. Section A alone carries 15 of the 35 marks, which is why working through MCQs from previous year papers is worth the time.

How To Use FA1 Question Papers in the Last Few Days
- Solve one full paper per subject with a timer. Set 1 hour 15 minutes and do not pause. This is the single most valuable session you can run before August 3.
- Attack Section A first. Fifteen MCQs carry 15 marks. Secure them before moving to the descriptive sections.
- Map every question back to the textbook. Since FA1 covers only June-July lessons, each question should trace to a chapter you have already studied. Anything you cannot place is a revision gap.
- Rehearse the 8-mark essay. Write at least one full Section D answer by hand for each language and Social Studies paper.
- Do not neglect the other 15 marks. Project work, written work and classroom participation carry 15 of the 50 marks. Submit notebooks and projects on time.
