Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow has scrapped the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance examination (UPSEE) 2021 for MBA course admissions. Instead, candidates have to appear for the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2021 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This does not come as a surprise since the university recently scrapped the state-level engineering exam. Candidates were asked to appear for JEE Main 2021 to seek admission in the state.

UPSEE 2021 was scheduled to be conducted in the third week of May 2021 for admissions to management programs. However, authorities stated that the entrance test shall not be conducted for the upcoming academic year i.e., 2021. Instead, interested, and eligible candidates are required to appear for the NTA CMAT 2021 examination. Through the exam scores, selected candidates shall be granted admission in the state educational institutions. NTA further confirmed this by issuing a public notice on Wednesday i.e., December 23, 2020.
NTA is going to conduct the CMAT 2021 examination on February 22 and 27, 2021. Registration process for the same began on December 23, 2020 and the last date to fill the application form is January 22, 2021. As per the information bulletin, the last day to fill the application fee is January 23, 2021 up to 11:50 pm. Candidates can access the application form on the official website of the conducting body i.e., cmat.nta.nic.in.
Eligible candidates can apply for CMAT 2021 entrance exam by clicking on the ‘Apply for CMAT 2021’ tab on the homepage of the website i.e. cmat.nta.nic.in. By doing so, the registration link shall open in another tab. Candidates must click on the ‘new registration’ button to access the registration form. The registration process comprises of four steps namely registering on the website, filling the application form, uploading the required documents and lastly, paying the application fee.
The first two steps of the registration process include filling in personal details, address details, permanent address details, qualification, and educational details, etc. In the third step, applicants are expected to upload scanned copies important documents like photograph, signature and PwD certificate (if applicable). In the last step, candidates must pay the application fee depending on the category and gender to which they belong.
General category male candidates are expected to pay Rs.2000 whereas general category females have to pay Rs.1000 as application fee. Students belonging to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, Gen-EWS, PwD categories and transgender candidates are required to pay Rs.1000 as application fee. Addition charges and GST must also be paid by the candidate. NTA has given multiple options including credit card, debit card and net banking for application fee payment.
UPSEE 2021 entrance exam shall not be held in 2021 for candidates wishing to pursue an MBA in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Instead, they must appear for the NTA CMAT 2021 entrance test scheduled in February 2021. Scores of this test shall be used by the university for granting admission in colleges within Uttar Pradesh.
