Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has recently released the proposed timeline for Combined Geo-Scientist Prelims Exam 2020. Candidates who are participating this year for UPSC CGS Exam can download the exam schedule from upsc.gov.in. As per the notice, the preliminary examination is scheduled on February 21, 2021. Paper 1 will take place between 09:30 AM to 11:30 AM followed by Paper 2 from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM.

Time Line for UPSC CGS Prelims Paper 1
Candidates have to report the centre for Paper 1 exactly at 08:00 AM. Officials available at the entry gate of the exam centre will start the verification of admit card sharp at 08:00 AM. Applicants whose admit cards are found authentic can then register themselves as per the instructions. The entry will close at the main entrance at 08:45 AM. After that, no candidate will be allowed to enter the exam centre.
Moreover, once the verification of candidates is complete, they can enter the exam hall from 08:00 AM onwards. They will get the password announcement up till 09:20 AM. Thereafter, aspirants have to open the secured browser and read the instructions for which they will get 10 minutes (09:20 AM to 09:30 AM). The UPSC CGS prelims 2020 Exam will start from 09:30 AM ending exactly at 11:30 AM. Once the exam is over, applicants have to leave the exam hall avoiding the crowding.
Time Line for UPSC CGS Prelims Paper 2
Similar to Paper 1, candidates have to appear at the entrance gate 01 hour and 30 minutes before the commencement of exam. They have to report at the centre sharp at 12:30 PM. Then, they have to undergo the authentication of admit card and registration process. On successful registration, they can then proceed to enter the exam hall from 12:30 onwards. For Paper 2, the main entrance gate will close at 01:15 PM.
After candidates enter the exam hall, the password will be announced around 01:50 PM. Thereafter, 10 minutes will be provided to read all the instructions (01:50 PM to 02:00 PM). The exam will start sharp at 02:00 PM and will end at 04:00 PM.
UPSC CGS Prelims Exam Pattern
Both the Papers of UPSC CGS Prelims is conducted for 02 hours. Paper 1 is conducted as a common examination for all the streams. Whereas, Paper 2 is stream specific examination. There will be 02 categories in UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Prelims Exam Paper 2. Category 1 includes a Chemistry paper. Category 2 consist of Hydrogeology, Chemical and Geophysics subjects. Candidates of the specific streams have to attempt the question paper as per their opted stream.
