UP CM Yogi Adityanath Virtually Inaugurates PepsiCo’s Largest Greenfield Foods Plant

As per reports, this plant will generate 1,500 job opportunities via direct and indirect channels. The major target of the company is to induce at least 30% of women employees.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath today inaugurated Pepsico’s Greenfield foods plant-based in Mathura. The plant is also known as the Kosi Kalan food plant and has been developed with an investment of INR 814 crores. Also, this newly inaugurated plant is one of the first make and move factories of Pepsico and will definitely provide a boost to the food processing industry of the state.

The Kosi Kalan food plant fulfils two major purposes i.e. it will cater to the growing demand for potato chips in the country. Secondly, it will support the industrialization-led growth agenda of the Uttar Pradesh government. Third, it will give a boost to the company’s policy of long term investment plan. The Kosi Kalan plant will also be helpful in promoting the socio-economic growth of the Uttar Pradesh state.

Along with this, the plant is aimed to give employment opportunities to the people of UP via direct and indirect channels. The company is targeting to fulfil its demand of employees in this plant of 30% of the employees through women. The state’s target of benefitting the farmers of the state will also be fulfilled as this plant will benefit at least 5000 farmers of the state. The company is going to source the demand for 1,50,000 tonnes of potatoes from the farmers of the state and other raw materials from the local sources.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath lauded the company’s move and further said that this investment will help the people of the state by generating employment. He further added that this plant will also attract similar kinds of investment in the state in future. The CM also assured that the administration will provide timely disbursement of the incentives and will make sure they get all kinds of help.

Pepsico’s Indian president ElSheikh also applauded the efforts of the employees for getting the plant ready within 2 years of its conception. He also thanked the state government’s extensive support in developing the plant, which helped them in fulfilling the conditions within the stipulated time. The company strategy is to double its production capacity in the snacks sector in the country.

PepsiCo is one of the largest food and beverage companies in the country and has invested in a lot of states. As of now, the company has a total of 1,63,000 employees and have 13 iconic global brands. The company is also working closely with more than 27,000 farmers across the country.
