The result of the UGC NET 2022 is expected to be released by next week. Before the release of the result, candidates may be eager to know about the normalization of the UGC NET results. The conducting agency, NTA, has explained the normalization process in detail through a notification.
Since the UGC NET is conducted in two sessions every year with question papers of different difficulty levels, it is impossible to keep up with the level of questions in each session. So the method evaluation done by NTA to assess the performance of the candidates in UGC NET is called UGC NET normalization.
What is the expected date for UGC NET result 2022?
It is expected that the result of UGC NET 2022 should be announced by February 10, 2022. This is because it has been observed, that in the past, NTA has declared the UGC NET results at max 20 days after releasing the answer keys.

Normalization in UGC NET
UGC NET normalized scores are based on the relative performance of all the candidates who had appeared for the NTA NET Examination. The marks obtained by the candidates will be converted on a scale of 0 to 100 for each session of UGC NET.
The highest score of the UGC NET will get a desirable percentile of 100. Instead of the original marks, the performance of the candidates will be converted into percentiles. The marks between the highest and lowest score will be converted to applicable percentiles.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has provided the following formula to calculate the percentile score of the candidates who have appeared for the UGC NET exam:
The example given by NTA on normalization is given below.
If an exam was conducted in four shifts, like this –
The percentile scores of the highest and lowest scoring candidates will be like this –
UGC NET Result 2022
The result preparation of the UGC NET is done in three steps.
Step 1: Distribution of the total candidates who have applied for UGC NET into two shifts.
Example: If the exam is conducted in 2 days.
Day 1 : Shift 1, Shift 2
Day 2: Shift 1, Shift 2
Step 2: Preparation of the results.
UGC NET results are developed for each session in the form of raw scores and percentile scores of total raw scores. The method to calculate the percentile as per NTA is:
Step 3: Compilation of NTA Scores.
The percentile score of all the raw scores scored by the candidates will be combined and will be called NTA scores.
The NTA scores are then used to release the result of the UGC NET.
