Tripura Public Service Commission is inviting online applications from eligible candidates for the post of Forest Service (Grade II). A detailed notification (Advt. no. 04/2020) is released by TPSC on its official website, tpsc.gov.in. The online application form for TPSC Forest Service starts from June 09, 2020. Candidates can submit their representations for Forest Service up to July 08, 2020.
The procedure for online application is conducted through the official website of Tripura Public Service Commission, which is tpsc.gov.in. Candidates can register through One Time Profile Registration (OTPR) and then proceed to submit the application form. For this Group A post, aspirants have to make a payment of Rs.300 (UR) and Rs. 250/- (SC/ST/BPL card holders) as the application fee. Under Tripura Forest Service Grade-II recruitment, total of 06 vacancies are announced. These vacancies are available for both reserved and unreserved categories. Out of these, 02 vacancies are reserved for Scheduled Caste, 01 for Scheduled Tribe and 03 vacancies for Unreserved category.
Applications are primarily accepted on the basis of the eligibility criteria. A bona fide candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Science with at least one of the following subjects – Agriculture, Botany, Engineering (Agriculture/Civil/Chemical/Mechanical/Electronics), Forestry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Horticulture, Statistics, Zoology. Or he/she must have secured an Honours Degree from recognized Government Forest Rangers College. The applicant’s age must be between the 21 years to 40 years as on June 01, 2020. Knowledge of Bengali language is considered as the desirable eligibility.
Along with educational qualification, aspirants have to abide by the prescribed Physical Standard/Physical Fitness. Male candidates (of both categories) have to cover a distance of 25 kms in 04 hours. Female candidates have to cover 14 kms in the same time limit. The chest size of a male candidate should be of 84 cm (normal). Whereas, the chest size of female candidates should be 79 cm (normal). The expected height of general and SC candidates should be 163 cm for males and 150 cms for females. On the other hand, candidates belonging to ST category are expected to have height of 152.5 cm for males and 145.0 for females.
To get recruited to these posts, one has to clear three stages of selection, which are preliminary exam, mains exam and personality test. The first stage, which is prelims, is a screening test conducted for 200 marks. In this, candidates have to answer multiple-choice questions under OMR pattern. Qualifying prelims allows candidates to appear for the mains exam, which is also OMR based (700 marks). For every wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of ¼ marks assigned to a particular question in both prelims and main exam. The final merit list is determined by aggregate marks in mains exam and personality test (70 marks). After the final appointment, newly selected candidates have to execute service for 05 years under the government. This service, as per the bond, under the forest department is executed before the appointment and training.
