The Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board has released the notification regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test(TET) on its official website on trb.tn.nic.in. The online application procedure for the same will begin on March 14, 2022, and end on April 13, 2022. The dates of the examinations have not been announced yet by TRB. All the important details regarding the application and conduct of the examination have been listed by TRB in the official notification.
Exam Syllabus
The TET Paper 1 and Paper 2 examinations will follow the syllabus of the previous years with only minor changes to them. The topics covered in the examination are the same and without any changes. Paper 1 questions will be from Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada/ Urdu), Language 2 (English), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. For Paper 2 all the first 3 subjects will be compulsory with an option of Mathematics and Science for Mathematics and Science Teacher, Social science for social science teacher and for any other subject one can choose between the above mentioned two. As per the official notification:
- Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on the Educational Psychology of Teaching and Learning.
- Language paper will focus on communication and comprehension abilities.
- Mathematics and environmental studies will focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of these.
The questions in Paper 1 will be based on the syllabus of Classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 will be based on Classes 6 to 8.
Eligibility
The criteria of eligibility for TENET Paper 1 is higher secondary with at least 50% passed or appearing in a two-year Diploma course in elementary education. For TENET Paper 2, graduation with at least 50% passed or 45% passed while appearing in the 2nd year of the B.Ed course would be counted.

Exam Pattern
The mode of the examination has not been decided yet. However, the duration of the examination will be 3 hours with a total of 150 MCQs. Paper 1 contains 30 questions each from Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada/ Urdu), Language 2 (English), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Paper 2 contains 30 questions each from Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada/ Urdu), Language 2 (English), and 60 questions from the optional subject.
