The Tamil Nadu school education department has decided to form a committee to take steps for conducting the class 12th examinations after the pandemic. Besides this, the committee will also decided the modalities for awarding marks and preparing Class Xth students.
Earlier, the state government has cancelled the class 10th examinations and postponed the class XI and XII board exams due to the rising COVID19 cases across the country.
School education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi talking to the reporters said that the department has convened a meeting on Monday to decide on many issues regarding conducting exams and awarding marks. He further added that the department is planning to create a think tank with parents, schools and officials for discussing key issues.
Earlier, the Tamil Nadu Board Exam 2021 Class 12th exams were scheduled to be held from May 3 to 21, 2021. The decision regarding the revised dates will be taken later. The state government has taken few other major decisions to control COVID 19 rise, such as complete lockdown on Sundays and night curfew.
The Directorate of Government Exams, Tamil Nadu (DGE TN) earlier also postponed the language exams due to assembly elections. The Language paper exam which was going to be held on May 31 was then scheduled to be conducted on May 3. The exam date for the Language paper was changed to ensure additional time required to complete the counting of votes for Assembly Elections 2021.
Around 8 lakh students have registered for TN Class 12th public exams 2021. Also, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on March 5 announced that the students of classes 9, 10, and 11 are promoted to the next class without holding the examinations. The state administration also decided to shut schools for students of classes 9, 10 and 11 in view of rising coronavirus cases in the state.
