On April 19, 2021, the Staff Selection Commission officially postponed the then ongoing, Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) 2021 examination with immediate effect. The government recruitment exam was being held from April 12 to 27, 2021 all around the country and on May 21 & 22, 2021 in the state of West Bengal. However, considering the COVID-19 situation in India, the examination was postponed with assurance that fresh dates for the balance candidates will be announced in due course of time.
The Tier 1 of the SSC CHSL 2021 exam was already ongoing when SSC decided to postpone the exam with effect from April 20, 2021 onward. As per the official postponement notice released by the SSC, those who were allotted to take the test on or after April 20, 2021 will now be allotted new exam date.
Staff Selection Commission has not however mentioned any specific timeline for announcement of the revised exam date. The official postponement notice from the website of the Commission (ssc.nic.in) reads, “Fresh dates for the balance candidates… will be intimated in due course”. Essentially, there is no specific date of announcement of the revised exam dates of SSC CHSL 2021 Tier 1 exam. Candidates can expect the Commission to review the situations once the pandemic is controlled and then decide on revised dates of the exam.
The Commission has also not clarified whether candidates will be issued fresh admit cards once revised exam dates of CHSL 2021 Tier 1 exam is decided. Earlier, the Staff Selection Commission released the SSC CHSL Admit Card 2021 for Tier 1 exam from March 27, 2021 onward. The admit card released on the official website through candidate login as per convention for all registered candidates of the examination. However, with the exam itself deferred indefinitely, a common enquiry is whether the SSC will issue fresh admit cards or candidates have to produce the admit card that they have already downloaded from the official website.
Usually, the SSC CHSL 2021 admit card contains the details of the exam centre, exam date and timings among other information. Candidates are required to report to the designated exam centre, on the given date as per the indicated reporting time along with a printed copy of the admit card and a valid photo identity proof among other things.
Candidates are advised to keep a close eye on the official website of the Staff Selection Commission i.e. ssc.nic.in for any latest updates/announcements in this regard. As per conventions, the CHSL admit card releases around 15 days before the exam date. Thus, candidates can expect to get a confirmation on whether fresh admit cards will release for the exam by the time when approximately 2 weeks will be left before the revised exam dates.
