Staff Selection Commission has commenced the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2021 exam today on August 13, 2021. The exam is being conducted on three shifts on each exam date and all three shifts of today’s exam are now over. Based on the post-exam analysis and review, the level of difficulty of today’s exam, across Shifts 1, 2 and 3 were easy to moderate. First Shift Analysis
Level of Difficulty
As per memory-based reports from candidates who appeared in the Shift 1 exam, the overall level of difficulty was easy to moderate. The particular sections on General Intelligence & Reasoning and English Language & Comprehension were of the easy difficulty level. Quantitative Aptitude and General Knowledge were, however, of the moderate difficulty level.
Number of Questions
Candidates reported that around 03 questions were asked from each of the sections of Data Interpretation, Simple/Compound Interest, Algebra and Geometry in the Quantitative Aptitude section. Other questions in this section were asked from topics like Percentage, Profit & Loss, Time & Distance, Trigonometry etc.
In Reasoning, Arithmetic Reasoning, Coding-Decoding, Classification, Figure Counting, Missing Number and Logical Arrangement formed the high marks yielding topics although questions were also asked from Analogy, Number Series, Venn Diagram etc. In English, around 04 questions were asked from Cloze Test and 05 from Synonym & Antonym. Other important topics included Idioms & Phrases, Para Jumble, One-Word Substitution etc.
Modern History, Sports, Geography are some of the highest marks yielding topics in the first shift General Knowledge section. However, the highest number of questions were asked from Current Affairs. Around 05 -06 questions were asked from Current Affairs.
Good Attempts
Based on the level of difficulty, the overall number of good attempts is expected to go as high as 77 to 86 questions out of 100. Section-wise, the English and Reasoning sections are expected to have above 20 good attempts. Besides, in General Knowledge and Quantitative Aptitude, the number of good attempts can also go to as high as 20-21.
Second Shift Analysis
Level of Difficulty
Shift 2 of the SSC CGL 2021 exam held today was also of the easy to moderate difficulty level similar to the previous shift today. The easiest section was English while the rest of the sections viz. Quantitative Aptitude, General Intelligence & Reasoning and General Awareness were of the Easy to Moderate difficulty level.
Number of Questions
Similar to the first shift exam, in the second shift’s Quant section, around 03 to 04 questions were asked from each of the topics of Simple & Compound Interest, Data Interpretation and Algebra. Besides, around 03 questions each were also asked from Trigonometry and Mensuration as well.
In General Intelligence & Reasoning, once again the highest number of questions were asked from the sections of Arithmetic, Coding-Decoding and Missing Numbers. Around 03 questions were asked from each of these topics besides other topics like Logical Arrangement, Figure Counting, Classification etc. Cloze Test once again included 03 to 04 questions in the English section. Other important topics included Synonyms & Antonyms, One-Word Substitution, Idioms & Phrases etc.
In the General Awareness section, around 02 to 03 questions were asked from each of the sections of History, Policy, Geography, and Sports. Once again, Current Affairs carried 05 to 06 questions, similar to the first shift.
Good Attempts
Given that the second shift exam was easy to moderate, with sectional difficulty level easier than shift 1, the overall number of good attempts can be envisaged at 81 – 89 out of 100 questions. Section-wise, across all sections, the number of good attempts was more than 20 for each of the four sections.
Third Shift Analysis
Level of Difficulty
The overall level of difficulty of the Shift 3 SSC CGL 2021 exam held today was easy to moderate. As reported by candidates, the English section was of the easiest difficulty level. In this shift, even the General Intelligence & Reasoning section was also as easy as the English section. However, General Awareness was of the moderate level while Quantitative Aptitude was easy to moderate.
Number of Questions
Mensuration, Trigonometry, Algebra, Data Interpretation etc. are some of the highest marks yielding topics in Quantitative Aptitude. Around 03 to 04 questions were asked from each topic. Besides, around 02 questions were also asked from each of the topics of Ratio, Number System, Geometry.
In English, similar to previous shifts, Cloze Test consisted of 04 to 05 questions while around 04 questions were asked from Synonyms and Antonyms. Idioms & Phrases, One-Word Substitution, Fill in the blanks, Spelling Errors were also important topics from which, around 02 questions were asked (from each topic). In Reasoning, Analogy, Coding-Decoding, Mathematical Operations formed the highest marks yielding topics with around 03 questions asked from each. In General Awareness, Current Affairs was again the highest marks yielding topic with around 05 to 06 questions asked in the third shift.
Good Attempts
Considering the level of difficulty of the exam and as per post-exam review of how candidates performed in the last shift exam today, the overall number of good attempts can go to as high as between 76 to 84. In the English and Reasoning sections, the number of good attempts is envisaged to be in the range of 19 to 23 while in the General Awareness and Quantitative sections, the number of good attempts can be just 20.
